Hi, has anyone managed to design a cot or prison for a baby to keep them safe on a caravan bunk. We have a sliding door, that would trap our baby in, but he's not keen on the door shut totally. I was thinking of some sort of net wall, so he can see out, but not get out????
Pictures very welcome, thanks x
When we had a static van I did what you suggested and bought an old cot and used the sides with four small bolts to secure it worked great she never escaped. And before anyone asks no she's not still there lol.
we used a net that they use in motorhomes it screws to the base of the bed then attached to two clips and folded away under the bed really neatly. wasnt cheap tho about £60 or we used a travel cot there is one made by hauck that fitted perfectly between the seats and it was nice and long so hes still in it at 2 1/2. we had a Elddis Crusader superstorm at the time and I know they are wide so it would be worth just checking the width of the gap between the seats.
I think I've managed to fashion something....I'm in the process of making something with a plain net curtain, some of that metal cord you use to hang nets with and some hooks and eyes. The plan is to totally enclose the opening to the bunk and then once he's asleep and finished being nosey, we can shut the sliding door for extra safetly.
I'll post a pic if it's successful!
If you close the door when he is asleep, he will wake up in total darkness. I know our son would hate that !
Also, it might get quite hot if the bed is closed in on all four sides.
Could you try two of the mesh sides (the type you slide under the mattress to stop a toddler falling out), putting one under the bed he is one, and the other upside down under the top bunk.
I think my little monkey would stand up at that Caci and fall over the top. He's going to have to go on the top bunk, as we have damp around the bunk support, so until we fix that, I don't trust the bunk with my 9 year old on.
Don't think we'll be completely shutting the door, just closing it enough, so he's got something against his side.
Tried the Tomy bed rail and it didn't fit, as got in the way of the sliding door, which my 9 year old likes pulled "to" when she goes to bed. Apparently Mummy and Daddy keep her awake talking - talking....us....never!!!
