Whats the differences and your thoughts on the best club for us? Hoping to get our van v soon and researching everything else while I wait. C&cc or cc?
We belong to both.....need the c&cc for an annual family meet up at Goose Fair etc, and cc for some nice cs's. Depends on what kind of sites you want to frequent.personally i like cc sites the best.Always get asked for cc mem number but hardly ever with c&cc.
Considering the cost of a caravan against the cost of membership for both clubs, I would advise you to join both and then make up your own minds as to which suits your particular needs best.
Everybody is different and everybody is looking for different things.
We have been members of both clubs for a very long time although we rarely use their Club Sites, far preferring their small 5-van type sites. These are less formal and less restrictive.
We joined c at cc thought it was value for money non electric sites £6 or with £12 ish. Like he certified sites they have where there are 5/6 caravans on site rather than lots if pitches. Might join cc next yr as a comparison. Suppose it depends on what u want from the membership.
We are members of both clubs but hardly ever use club sites, it's CLs/CSs all the way for us. We think the £80 odd per year is well worth it; some sites are as little as £10 per night (often not with loos/showers, you need to be prepared to use your own).
We were in C&CC and left. Didn't see any advantage. The only benefit is CS/CL sites as far as we could see. We didn't use them so there was no point to membership.
If you have made up your mind that you want to be in a club the additional cost of both is £40 odd so why not try both and see which you prefer. They both have their following - not us.
I don't think there's a lot to choose between them. If you're over 55 you get an age concession rate with the C&CC which can make it a lot cheaper.
I think both clubs really only save you money if you use other services like insurance, ferry crossings etc. or if, like stevo1 above, you use a club site regularly otherwise you'd have to pay the non-member supplement.
As for CSs and CLs, a lot of them have areas or pitches for non-members anyway at the same price.
We are members of both clubs and think they both have a lot going for them.
We use the Mayday breakdown cover from the C.C. and have used several of their C.L. sites some of which offer fully serviced pitches from £12 a night - one of our favourites only has 5 pitches and no area for non members.
We are covered by The C.&C.C. Club Care caravan insurance and have been on some excellent rallies organised by the club. The "Holidays every Weekend" feature in the C&CC mag. is well worth a look, offering pitches from about £7 per night often without the need to book - just turn up! Some of these will be bare field sites with just a tap and a CDP, but some will be popular commercial sites at a very good discount from the normal pitch fee (this type often does have to be booked though). We really like the flexibility this gives.
Just paid for another years membership of both clubs.

Unless the rules have changed, we found that the age concession can only be used in low season and midweek which may not be of benefit to many.
No, age concessions are available on all days including weekends and not only low season but mid season as well. Many sites also have the age concession in high season (eg pretty much every site in Scotland and Wales) but they do become rarer the further south you come, but even down there there are some sites that do it in high season.
Which of the two obtain the best deals and support for ferries and touring into France? Planning to go for about 6 weeks next May/June. Probably via Portsmouth-Caen
