This has probably been menshioned many times but would like opinions on Caravan Club and Camping and caravan club?

Firstly is it worth joining one?
If so which one do people think would suit us better.

Ive looked at both sites But unsure what would be better for us.

Points to consider.
1: We are late 20's (not noisey)
2: Are caravan is Old Does that matter?
3: We enjoy cycling and walking
4: enjoy a chat and a quiet beer
5: Hope to use the van more and more.

Any input appreciated.

C&CC here. I initially joined to add the RAC arrival cover, Just in case.

But we just made use of a THS (Temporary Holiday Site) and it was brilliant.

Must make more use of the club facilities i think.

Caravan being old does matter. You will probably get more people wanting to talk to you about it

They had one or remember them etc.

If you find a caravan snob then they are not worth talking to anyway.

Why not get a brand new van and have to eat beans on toast everyday because it doesnt leave you anything left for the holiday.

Enjoy what you have and never mind what others have or think.

My caravans 22 years old now. Its like a family member, We have thought about updating but it has and does all we want.

Speaking to some new(er) caravan owners, They have a list of issues. Vans under warranty needing repairs and vans just out of warranty having issues that could cost more than we paid for our units.

Personally i would rather be spending the money enjoying myself than paying to fis something and not be able to use it afterwards because i was skint.

Waffle over

Join the C&CC and enjoy yourself..

We have herd alot of good feedback regarding the tempory sites. We love the old girl as has plenty of caracter.
As for the £200 we payed for her we are not going to complain as it was cheaper than the new tent we was looking at Plenty of cheap hols now looking forword to the shuttleworth steam rally in a few weeks.

Tried the C & CC. Not for us. Didn't offer anything that wasn't better/cheaper elsewhere. Didn't like their sites. All the same and rules about rules everywhere.

Old caravans are fine, you can park your van next to mine on a CC anytime you want. All the rest of the questions look as though you are the archetypal caravanner who would be welcome anywhere. I wrote the following some time ago trying to be as fair to each club as I could be.

Caravan Club (CC) has about 220 of it's own sites with about half open to members only and over 2500Cl's ( small 5 five van independent sites of variable standard licensed by the club for members only ) , the standard of it's sites is consistently high over the whole network, it provides every service that a caravanner could need and all the services are comparable with the best of service that you can find anywhere. When you arrive at a club site you book in and pay your fees, no deposits are taken so the whole fee is paid at this time, you are then given information about the site and are told to go go and have a look at the pitches available ( all empty pitches are available ) choose one, set up and then let the wardens know where you have gone. Should you decide for whatever reason that you need to leave before the date that you have paid till, you can inform the wardens that you are leaving and will receive a refund of all fees for the days that you have paid for but will not be staying for.

Camping and Caravanning Club (CCC) has about 110 sites of it's own a handful (6 at the last count ) of which are members only and a network of about 1000 CS's ( like CL's ), the standard of the sites over the whole network is of a more variable standard with the best sites comparing favourably with the CC sites. It also provides a full range of high quality services for the caravanner that are just as good as those provided by the CC. When you arrive at a club site you book in and pay the remainder of your fees ( a deposit will be taken when you book which if you cancel more than 7 days in advance you get   back, within 7 days you lose ), the warden will decide where you are to pitch and will escort you to it and ensure that you have pitched precisely as he requires. Should you need to leave for any reason the fees that you have paid will be forfeit ( though in some circumstances by special request to head office giving circumstances and doctors notes be placed on account for you to use in the rest of the year )

I have been a member of the CC for 21 years and have never regretted it, I have been a member of the CCC on two occasion in the last six years and have on both occasions resigned it just did not suit me. I know of a lot of people who like and use the CCC so I would suggest that it is worthwhile joining both clubs and seeing which one suits your purpose best

Bill

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

£16.50 a night for a site near Padstow in the main summer holiday.

No electric hookup, But a small club/pub on site and a pool and very clean toilets and showers all free.

We enjoyed it. There were sites for less £9.50 but you needed your own sanitation. Just the basic fresh water and waste points.

Thats cheap for the summer weeks, Well i think it is.

Been members of both for a long time. (25 years CC and 23 years C&CC - though grew up with the CC)

Consider myself fairly young at 43 and don't feel out of place on CC sites.

If I had to plump for one it would be the CC any day of the week ... we find their sites more profesionally run, better to look at and cheaper.

My bugbear with the C&CC is stupidly narrow hard standings and hit and miss cleanliness on some sites.
