If you want to watch red squirrels go and stay at Cc borrowdale site low manesty. Lots of them there and they are forever on the lookout for nuts.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

Little item on the TV news tonight that after numbers being in decline, the red squirrels are now making a comeback against the greys!

Not so, the grey squirrels carry a virus to which they are immune but which is fatal to the red squirrel. In the areas where the red squirrel is flourishing local volunteers cull any grey squirrels that they find.

It's not that the two species don't get on (makes them sound like fighting friends ), but that the grey squirrel carry diseases that they are immune to but the red squirrels are not.

Certainly not plenty of reds about. I have not seen one for many years although we are overrun with greys. There are reds in a few hotspot locations.

think the best sightings we have had was at haltwhistle,there every day.

We still have a few reds here that ive seen but,they are outnumbered by grays and their outnumbered by magpies.

We Managed to see one while on holiday at the Isle of wight a few weeks ago, They are really cute, more so than the grey....

I speak not in jest, you sometimes see squirrels that are partly red & partly grey, presumably the 2 colours breeding together & I think this is the issue, eventually the squirrel 'melting pot' will give us only grey squirrels with a slightly reddish hue.
