Just seen THIS on eBay and thought what a bargain!
Then reality kicks in and I smell a rat. Check the sellers feedback of 5 They have 5 positives all given on Wednesday for 99p items purchased and no other history.
What do you think?
Well.....here's my opinion as an ebayer for what it's worth
1) It's a classified ad so you would be buying it in exactly the same way as from a dealer - you don't like it when you get there you don't buy it.
2) everyone has to start somewhere with ebay.
3) Why don't you contact the seller and put your concerns about the advert and the price to them see what sort of response you get.
4) The VIN number is shown on the ad - doesn't this mean you can check it out on CRIS
5) Suggest you go and have a look at it before writing it off as a scam
Think I should re-name myself Mrs glass half full
Agree with you 89angela.
Some people are far too quick to cast doubt on an ad.
If anyone is genuinely interested, they should contact the seller and ask for a viewing. With a bona fide seller it won't be a problem.
Low price may mean a number of things, you don't know!
And if anyone has reported the ad, it'll be a damned shame for the advertiser if it's genuine!!
Think a little before you act, I have a large thread on the Folding Camper section about ebay scammers and how they operate, this ad looks fairly OK to me.
------------- I came into this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.
I didn't say I was interested in buying the van. My concern was that it does look suspicious. Yes everybody has to start somewhere on eBay and there may well be a genuine reason for the low price. I would have thought that something would be mentioned in the ad. I have no intention of reporting it to eBay as I have no evidence that it is anything but genuine but saying that it does look suspicios and I would not like to see anyone get ripped off. My original post was purely to ascertain other members opinion.
I don't know about the advert but the feedback is a scam 5 different sellers all giving feedback in less than 5 mins and 2 give the exact feedback and also he has sent the sellers feedback back but would not have had stuff again all within 5 mins
SORRY BUT I THINK IT IS A SCAM!
2007 'van for £5k, could well be riddled with damp & worth even less. If its Cris clear & buyer has obvious title, purchase reciept etc, then no probs apart from the damp. Its also possible caravan could have been stolen when nearly new, used as residential since & seller is looking for quick, no questions asked cash sale.
Seller will either want paying first before promising to deliver caravan, in which case its the usual scam or otherwise usual secondhand caravan purchase precautions apply.
ok, so the feedback thing - the person buys 5 things - not ALL from china as another poster seems to hint at - it may well be that the advertiser in this case has logged on, given feedback for items purchased, and received 'auto feedback' from the sellers - this would certainly explain the closeness of the feedback received.
Its all down to 'buyer beware' - we really shouldn't be casting aspersions on whether a seller is genuine unless there is definite evidence to the contrary. So what if the guy is selling it cheaply - maybe he needs the cash!!
