this is our first winter we had a storage cover on our van.On collecting it last week to get it ready for our first outing on removing the cover the whole van was covered in black marks. Now our van has always been clean and polished and very reflective. These marks have been caused by the cover and wont come off,its costing us 400 quid to get them polished out, which is more than the cover cost, has anyone else had these problems and if so what make of cover was it.I most cetainly wont be using a cover again.Im sending mine back wether i get a refund or not,its ruined a 8000 pound van, really not happy

What have you done so far to remove marks? if its mould then get some spray mould remover, give it a good spray with that, let it soak then wash it with caravan cleaner such as Fenwicks. Your £400 polish sounds like it could damage the paintwork. You can't polish a caravan like you polish a car, the paint is much thinner.

Hi
I had a similar problem winter before last, when we removed the cover from the the van we had quite a lot of dull areas where the cover had "buffed" the finish on the van looked like dull blotches all over the roof / top corners - The cover was a good quality made to measure and it was not flapping around in the wind, took me quite a while to polish out the dull marks.
Last winter I never bothered with the cover but applied OLpro overwintering fluid instead - our van stayed spotless all winter, and when I washed it last week it gleamed like new.
So the expensive cover has been consigned to the bin!

Mine was a Protec, and mine also buffed the gloss off in patches. Protec's website absolves themselves of any blame by stating the cover must be secured so it doesnt move - at all - in the slightest. Which is a physical impossibility. I also stopped using it.

We have a Protec and have had no problems whatsoever. But as with any cover the van has to be washed before putting the cover on to stop grit rubbing on the paintwork. It would be interesting to see some pictures of the damage.
