Caravan Damage Inconsiderate People
Friday the 9th around 5.30pm, I was working at my computer when the security cameras covering my van was activated, I looked up in horror to the camera monitor to see a giant inflatable slide being blown up in next door neighbours 10foot wide driveway. As My caravan sits against my wall between the two houses, this inflatable started to push against the side and over the top of my van scoring van windows, I rushed down, Stop That Now and asked what the B***** H*** are you playing at, inflating a thing that size next to a van and did not come in and inform me before they started, so I could move my van out of harms way, How Stupid are you, you work with these thing all the time, and you know the size these things go up too and it never entered your tiny minds to inform me, I informed them that if the van window was scratch beyond repair the would foot the bill for a replacement window, give them they due they did apologize. But what made matters worse was that he said, he has worked repairing caravan window damage, “ Thought is this his way to drum up business ”. Just as I was finished telling them off my neighbour came out, I asked him why had he not said anything about this thing being erected in his drive next to my van, “vacant look and struck dumb ”, his wife piped in, It’s on my property and I can put it where I want, No sorry or I never though. I refrained from a very rude remark, and said It may be on your property, But if it damages anything on my property your are liable to repair damage, and vice versa. After I moved the van, I inspected the window and van side for damage, the side had no damage but the window had a lot of scratches, Would have been a lot worse if I did not have showroom shine on van and windows, that saved serious damage to van and especially the windows. On the Saturday and the Sunday they inflated the slide and deflated it after use, the slide still managed to deflate 5 feet into my driveway over a 3foot high wall and 1foot wide again hitting the van. This Slide is about 5metres wide, 5metres high, and 6metres long, fitted into a 3&a half meter wide driveway. I ask myself how stupid can people get. Anyway Managed to get scratches out with the help of elbow grease and Brasso, and it works really well, took 5 hour work almost like new, to tell you the truth I kind of wish I had not done it, as now I have seen thee results I will need to do the rest of the van windows. I will try and post some pictures if I can. I sincerely hope all you who store your van at the side of your house in your driveway, have considerate neighbours.

Hi Fife-bloke, Neighbours not bad, just thoughtless, he is OK, but she dose not give him a minuets peace, he dose as she demands anything for a quiet life.
Neighbours on other side used to play music from 7pm till 4 or 5 am, it was the base that used to vibrate through the wall, phoned the council and police many a time nothing done, until I fell asleep at work, workmates and foreman could not waken me to do a job, so deep a sleep they thought I had died, I was a train driver at the time now retired, anyway my boss wrote to the council and the police informing them of the situation, and that because of these noise neighbours, My job was being effected, and as I was employed in a safety critical job, working a 24hour clock starting at all times of the day and night, driving high speed passenger trains, petrol and all sorts of dangerous goods trains, and suffering from sleep deprivation was putting my life and the life’s of the general public at high risk, This made them sit up and do something about it, the neighbours were informed that if any more disturbances they would be moved, their equipment taken, and they would be taken to court and prosecuted .
That did the job.
Andy, want to swap neighbours?
Adrian, I did lose it, that was the calm version. Was so high I could have gone for space walk.
Cant get any smiles attached here for some reason.

Hi brianconway, would do, but might damage my van, pity not allowed barb wire strung along the top of the wall.
Alpiner, there was a sharp spike on my side of the wall, they got it when I opened my mouth to tell them off.
Wee update of the van situation, He has failed to come and talk to me, not sure why as I am down from my space walk now. “I can wait”.( really need to make time to get these smiley’s sorted). Scratches at bottom of window deeper than suspected, can’t see them from outside van only noticeable at cretin angles when you are sitting in van, and look really close for them, so a bit more elbow grease, also used the Brasso on the rear of van, which had dark gray paint primer spots over most of the rear, originally thought it was bird crap, no idea how they got there. Really pleased with the results, all white and shiny after Brasso residue is rubbed off, going to use it on the faded front of van, if results are half as good as the rear”, will need sunglasses to look at van.

Hi Jeff, Will cost you 4 tins of Brasso, 2for your van and Two for mine as I still have the my other windows to do now.
Hi, Update on Window damage, and neighbour situation, a bit more elbow grease and Brasso also employed a battery drill with small polishing pad soaked with Brasso and used on a low speed, deep scratches now down to very light scratches, need to look hard to see them, hard work but it is worth it, pleased with results.
Eventually got hold of neighbour to-night, put the scenario to him that if I had put up one of these slide without informing him so he could move his car/motorbike, and it scratched the paintwork and windows of his car or his prized possession his motorbike, then gave the remark “ It’s on my property I can put it were I like, without as much as a sorry I never thought”. Would you not be angry at my callous attitude towards your property, he said he did not want the thing, did not realize how big it was going to be, and in hind sight all he could do was to apologize, which I accepted in good faith, and said that I did not have a problem with any such thing in the future, as long as I am informed so I can move my van, he said his wife would not be getting her way with these things again too much hassle. But if she dose I said “Let me know before it is put up and I’ll move the van”, at that he extended his hand, and we shook on it.
Now that I have the phone number of the Company that erected this Huge inflatable slide, I will pay them a visit, and present them with the CCTV footage of their staffs actions, and lack of informing any adjacent property owners, that when erecting the inflatable in close proximity to their property, it may encroach onto their property and potentially cause damage to any vehicles parked there with the inflating and deflating process. Hopefully they will take this on board and implement the procedure, and avoid a re-occurrence of this type of situation happening to others and could result in costly claims or legal action taken against them.
Will keep you posted.
