I have just a few pieces of wood and have never needed anything more than that. Most sites are level or very close to level.

I prefer using plastic ramps because they have more advantages than a single leveller. They are lightweight, don't rust, require no maintenance, easy to store and are also handy in times where if you are on sloping ground as a pair of ramps can be useful for packing blocks between the steadies and the ground. The two advantages with a single leveller under the tyre are you don't need a corresponding rear chock in the case of handbrake failure and you can get the caravan precisely level. Ramps can be a bit more tricky but that's down to experience. However, a single leveller can be somewhat difficult if you have any back problems or disability so it's down to personal choice really which is best for your needs.

I have different length planks, Offcuts of decking board. I cut them at an angle on the ends to make a small ramp also.
But i picked up a leveller really cheaply and its great.

I have a very old family heirloom that is a cupped plate that you drive the van wheel onto that you then wind up until the van is level! Very heavy and well made but worthwile if I know the site is on a slope, otherwise bits of wood usually do the trick.

I use the Fiamma Pro levelling ramps and find them solid but fairly lightweight and they are very easy to use.

All of these devices rely on raising one wheel to level the van. The guy at tregarton park in Cornwall that does the siting of customer vans (brilliant service) digs out a clod of turf to lower one wheel. How sensible is that.
