Hi all, like others on this site i have to report leaks with the Bailey Retreat, ours started a couple of months from new, it leaked at both roof joints front and rear, the water ran through, yes honestly ran through and came through the light fittings soaking all the sofa and fittings, they eventually took the van away for repair which they estimated a couple of weeks, FIVE months later we got it back!! Approximately two weeks ago we went to get the awning furniture from under the bed only to find a soaking mess. The rain had been coming in through a gap in the rear door fitting. We are now in a position where our summer will be ruined, the van goes back again this week but to be perfectly honest we cant stand the site of the thing anymore, its caused us nothing but grief and the thought of months of phone calls, letters, photographs trading standards will make it a summer to remember all for the wrong reasons, THANKS BAILEY!!! Owned it 23 months & Bailey had it for 5.5 of of them with more to come. If this was a professional company like a car manufacturer there would have been a product recall by now.

We intend to, i think we have given them a reasonable opportunity to repair in our opinion, and it still leaks all be it from a different area, if we accept it back it would be reasonable to expect it to leak from somewhere else in the next six months. I would be really keen to know the failure rate on these vans, there are five on our site and two have been returned to Bailey for repair, a small sample size but 40% returns from what i can see from our site alone!!!

Have they given you any explanation of what caused the 'van to leak & how they intend to do a permanent repair?

No they haven't, however the rear door / hatch opens from the top down, if you look at the online brochure you can see a picture of it open, look closely and you will see each of the two black catches has a steel rod attached which on the pictured door would act as a chute bolt sealing the door when turned, guess what?? Our van has not got these steel rods fitted, they have either chosen not to fit them, or thought the original design was not worth doing so they have changed the design, please take a look and let me know what you think, also if anyone owns a retreat could you please let me know what design their door has on it.

Bailey won't recall them they like to brush things under the carpet as was the case with cracking panels........trying to blame it on the manufacturers of the panels and even blaming it on cleaning products.

...........yes I will keep going on about it because it spoiled all my preconceptions of owning our first and only new caravan.

I know other makes have problems too but when people are spending thousands and thousands why should we have to put up with it.

Hope you get a satisfactory resolve even though it has prevented you from using the van as you should

If we all shout loud enough maybe the caravan industry might hear us and start doing the right thing and recall these lemons. But I doubt it though..... they just do the sale and run.

7 month old Bailey Retreat Willow and it's raining cats and dogs here. Up to now used 30 T towels trying to soak up the water under the fixed bed at the rear. Hopeless.

Unacceptable from a so called top manufacturer..
I agree its not fit for purpose. Can understand how you can't stand the site off it.

Hope you get resolution one way or another..good luck.

The amazing thing about the leaks in this model is that they are towed to a site and then stay there and not bounced over all sorts of potholes on our highways. You would think that would save the structure from all the normal stresses. Also they can make them more solid as weight isn't as much of an issue.

feel so sorry for you, you should be enjoying your summer not mopping up!!! Let it rain if it comes in it comes in.. Take plenty of pictures and video if possible, get it returned and never once say you will accept a repair, you want new or monet back, not fit for purpose. Also pay for an independent engineers report, well worth it as it counts as an independent view, vest wishes...

Bailey retreat sycamore is what we have and have the same problem. Also 2 of our friends both with willows have the same problem as well.
I think its a major design fault.
