Thank you to those who hand helped me as a newbie to evaluate this ABI Yorkshire Rose I hand found and with the towing match.

We were all set to buy but the top bunk is missing. They were confident they could but have been unable to get one to fit despite checking caravan breakers etc for 10 days. Cushions are also missing but this doesn't worry me as I can easily make some. So they are going to have to sell as a 2/3 birth at a reduced price.

Do I buy it at a reduced price and try to source, adapt, get one made? I can't find another caravan like this. It is a 4 birth side dinette with bunks and lightweight. Our car won't tow much heavier and I need bunks as my kids won't share a bed without squabbling. It is 1999 in immaculate condition at 3.5k. Whilst some say this expensive I can't find any cheaper. I have looked at dealers, auto trader, ebay, gumtree, classified on here. Is there somewhere else I can look?

Advice appreciated!

Thanks (again!). Tried to ring but no answer. They seem to advertise static caravan beds. I can't see folding tourer bunks but hoping they can help.

Is it the one with a side table and bunks? This is a fairly standard layout for the time and lots of different makes have the same type of bunk beds

If it is it I'd say it should be fairly easy to get a bunk from a breakers and if needed shorten it to fit. The important part is the metal frame, the wood can easily be replaced or adapted to fit. A quick google search and I've found some for around £50-60

For that van I think this is the type of bunk you need Link

Here is another link for Bunks which should fit the van, it even shows what it should look like folded down and as a bunkLink

the only thing missing from the pictures are the wooden guards and ladder

Hi, have a look on caravan finder there you can select an option to search for the particular bunk layout you want. It lists both private and trade sellers and that way you can see what else is out there. why buy your self a problem. Good luck in your search for a bunk hope you get sorted.

I would buy it, if the price is right. Then check the caravan breakers. I bet the bunks are nearly all the same size. There are a few bunks on ebay, easy enough to fit

That seems a lot privately for that age. We've got a 1998 Swuft 4 berth (different layout) that is lightweight and we paid just over £2000

I guess the yorkshire rose was a special van made for a big dealer? Just wondering if its the same as other models, I would have thought that abi made the same bunk for lots of models.

so from immaculate to bunk AND missing cushions ,its better to miss one seasons caravanning than buy something you will have to live with and regret .
its the wrong time of year to be buying ,the dealers know that as well ,you now know your upper tow limit specs ,my view is miss this year out (unless you can go later in season) and search out a better deal elsewhere .from personal knowledge i do know prices tend to be cheaper this way as well.

lots of us have tried to help you and we have all said the same this caravan is to expensive for its age .surely the alarm bells should be ringing by now ?????

Hi all,

Thank you for the ideas and advice which really is appreciated, and has helped so much given we are such novices. The update is that I have been to see some more caravans, scoured all dealers within 2 hour radius and all private ads I could find, and couldn't find one we liked or suited our needs as much. We have been back to the dealer, got £500 off plus a quite new Dorema awning thrown in plus starter kit and few extras, and decided to buy it. We accept that we may have paid what some consider to be over the odds, but we could not find anything cheaper even privately in anywhere near as good condition. If we were to wait until next year we would still like a holiday this year (we work ridiculous hours and want a break) and for 4 in a static caravan in france in school holidays it will cost a good proportion of what we are paying for the caravan. Add a weekend at center parks and we will easily have spent 3k without anything left to show for it. So it feels worth it to us (value is subjective after all) and I feel a lot better armed after the advice on here. Hoping to pick it up and first stop Deer Shed this weekend :-) Very excited. As long as dear hubby who is currently laid up in bed is well enough. Fingers crossed! And thank you again :-)

I suppose the other pull is that the kids are so excited and it feels like these summer holidays whilst the kids are still little are so precious I really want to make the most of them, rather than wait until we can get a cheaper out of season deal. This is why Disney is so successful -parents are suckers!
