When heading south and you enter the southbound service area you turn left, signposted picnic area and hotel. The top of this road is single track but is no more than 100 yards and has at least one passing place. This takes you onto a B road, that while narrow is not single track. You are only on that for a few minutes before turning into the northbound service area,signposted hotel and caravan site. The road does seem to get narrower after that so don't miss the turn off. I must have used the site over a dozen times and only once when heading back into the southbound area met a delivery vehicle coming the other way. No problem though as he pulled into the passing place. The only other vehicle I can recall was a police car overtaking me with lights and sirens to get to a vehicle fire on the northbound just a few hundred yards up from the services. Use could see it as we crossed over the motorway.
What to watch out for though is when going towards the site,you enter rear of northbound area, drive past the hotel and it's parking area and then on your right immediately before the service area restaurant and shop building there is a one way road to the caravan park. It would be quite easy to miss the entrance to this road. That is a narrow road but it is one way so no problems. When heading back out the site you drive up through the main service area then either continue onto the northbound slip road or if heading south turn left just after the restaurant and reverse the route back over to the southbound side.
The site is all hard standing, some pitches have their own water points.
