Yes Travel Bug, there are aspects of the FC that we miss, but gradually and with the experience of using the van, we are modifying and arranging it to better suit our requirements.
Our last trip saw us travelling over the hills outside Perth in torrential rain and a gale force wind and I would rather have been towing the FC then, but the van behaved itself and we came through it okay.
In a way I was glad it happened because I now have more confidence in towing in bad conditions.
But the best thing about the van is that although I could erect the FC in my workshop when I wanted to do something inside it, now I just open the van door and climb in.
With one heart attack and two new knees, the van is just so much simpler and easier to use.
The last time we packed up the FC on a site it took us 4 hours and the new lot were arriving on the site before we got off.
Now, with the van, we really can manage overnighters if we wish and even overnight at Service Stations. These would have been impossible, for us, in the FC.
Plus, while I can be pretty extrovert at times, being the only FC Owner in the country, well it felt like that at times, campsites didn't know what I was talking about when booking, arriving to find that the allocated pitch was about 7 foot long, gawking fellow campers watching in amazement as we set up and interfering busybodies with no experience of FCs insisting on giving us a hand to pack up and causing us grief.
Well now as a caravan owner, I'm just one of the crowd and camping is straightforward.
------------- Lobey.
