There have been a few mentions in camping magazines etc about approaching other caravanners, usually most conversations happen over the washing up, or just when you are leaving site for the last time. Somebody did mention about about putting a sign in your window indicating a willingness to exchange views/chat etc.

This is a sign I've made and put in our front window - see what happens on our next trip out.

When we were down in Frejus back in July, we were the only Tent campers on our row so to speak, the rest were a mix of TT, FC and Caravans, within the first couple of days, two English couples came over for a chat, and then some Dutch and a Belgian, none of us had ever met before, but the vin rouge soon got flowing which helped with any language issue.

Although I have to say me and Mrs Francais were almost embarrassed with our almost zero command of any other language other than English, whilst our new foreign friends had no problems speaking with us, and we could even understand what the couple from Birmingham were saying!

My dog loves everyone.
When she is outside (on a tether) no one can walk past without a big welcome.
Most Labradors have a way of making people love them

I wouldn't do signs ..
I just say hello to people passing , chat over the washing up, have a laugh and relax..

Sometimes its good, sometimes not so much.
I remember a couple on a site who were pitched opposite the facilities. They seemed to spend all day sat outside their caravan shouting "funny" comments to everyone who went past.
Got a bit annoying.

My "sign" is a smile and a hello. If others respond great, if they dont respond, still great. I dont invite anyone for a coffee or a beer though and would give my excuses if offered (unless it's someone I've got to know over a period of time). Learned that the hard way - way back in the day I met some lovely people who became real crackers (not in a good way) once alcohol was introduced. Nowadays I like friendly but distant.
