We bought an Adria Altea new, three years ago. The oven goes out after it has been lit. Sometimes once, sometimes more, sometimes it works. Doesn't happen all the time.

It has been serviced and checked 4 times during the 3 years we havehad it but of course works perfectly when in the workshop.

Can anyone help as the engineer thinks I am imagining this. The thermal couple has been replaced. The air vent in the cupboard is always clear. And the caravan door closed.

When you close the cooker lid this will turn off the gas, a safety feature built into the cooker to stop you closing it when a hob is lit.
If its not what Kazo above has suggested.

Also, make sure that the lid is open as far as it will go. I had a problem like this until I realised that, although the lid was up, it would go back a fraction more.

Usually it means that you are not holding the gas valve open long enough after ALL the burner has lit. So make sure the whole of the burner us lit then hold the gas valve open for another 10 seconds at least before you release it.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

Not sure what the hob has to do with the oven staying lit?

As Bill says above try if you haven't, holding the knob in until well lit

Some domestic ovens work with the lid down, the cut off valve is for the hob only. Make sure the pilot is big enough to envelope the thermocouple, make sure where the thermocouple enters the gas vale is tight, could be faulty gas valve on oven. Do the flames look normal when all the hob is lit, not lower than normal. If lower is the gas fully on.

On all except one (very old) caravans I have owned, the fail safe device will turn off the gas supply to the oven if the cover on the hob is not open. Possibly newer caravans don't do this?

We have had a similar problem with our oven, it lights fora minute or so & then goes out. We have come to conclusion not enough air getting through. We open lower storage door under oven letting air to it. Seems to have solved problem.

When we had our crusader it would go out if the cabin door was open, just a thought?

Thanks for all the suggestions. The oven is well lit and stays on when knob is released. It is several minutes later before it goes out sometimes as much as 10min. The oven works fine with the hob cover closed this does not affect it.

Will try opening the cupboard under the cooker. Surely if it was the regulator it would affect the hob or grill as well.

Have a look to see if the pilot gets smaller when the main burner is lit, it shouldnt, but if it does as the thermocouple cools down slightly the pilot and main burner will go out, this points to reduced gas pressure to the oven.

Hi, does it stay lit longer if the oven temp is set higher and go out sooner if set low. if so perhaps the thermo couple is not far enough into flame as the burner flame reduces as set temp is reached.

I've had problems when it has been very windy.

High winds hitting the cooker's external ventilation grill can sometimes blow the burner out.

I usually place a windbreak near, but not obstructing, the vent in windy conditions.

rust in burner, remove clean and polish,    I had similar problem when running fridge on gas, the fridge would work and cool then temp would rise and gas go out thermocouple checked for pilot light ETC no oil in bulkhead regulator. the burner creates condensation when cooling after use from the air in oven and a certain amount of moisture in gas which ends up as rust in burner and pilot light jet over a period of time. check glass in oven for condense after use if misted above could be your problem. good luck
