I freely admit to being a fair weather caravanner, I like nothing better than sitting outside the van on my chair with a chilled drink of choice.
I utterly despise the wind and the rain, especially when I'm away for a hard earned weekend , that's what winter is for. Yet every single time i think about going away or am actually away recently the weather is abysmal. It's June 6th and I have had to put my heating on for goodness sake.
It's when it's like this you wonder if it's all worth it. Awning gets soaked or damaged if it even gets put up at all that is, kids get bored sitting in the van playing te same games or watching tv/DVDs.

We have been so busy since last Christmas that I have not even done any maintenance on the van to get it ready for this season.

I will hopefully do a service on it next week, pack it the following week and get away somewhere in early July.

But really, with the weather the way it is and that much work needing done in the garden, we will be lucky to get more than a couple of weeks out of the van this summer.

I tend to agree. My caravan is only for summers in southern France, it's a CoC so little investment & parked at home. Off fairly shortly for a couple of mnths.

I was just saying to my OH I'm getting depressed with the weather this year. I am NOT a fair weather camper, we are used to going away in dreech weather and can make the most of it. Usually. This year it's getting me down. The last decent full weekend up here was Easter!

I'm currently grounded as awaiting an operation for my Dad. At 86 years old, he is having lots of tests to see if he can cope with the operation - 2 this month, then the op if all goes well. This has been postponed twice now...

However, I'm not sorry I can't go away, it's just been too cold really. I only have a teeny van and rely on the awning for the extra space.

Get yourself to France. The UK always has and always will have wind and rain. If it's calm weather it's the exception.

My brother hates it in this country and always goes to France but can't this year . I just say look for places with things and places to see and do.
It is harder with children . I always say go south don't go north . Or to the east coast it is usually better . Also can you get a ferry to the Netherlands. Think if you were in a hotel how much it would cost for just one holiday .and you can go when ever you like .

I just want to be able to sit in the garden. Today it's been sunny but the wind is too strong and too cold. It really needs to warm upa few degrees.

My prediction is that from the 16th - 30th June there will be a heat wave.
how do you know this? I hear you say.
Because my parents are away and I can guarantee every time they go away it's red hot which means I have to go round water all their hanging baskets, troughs and tubs plus go down to the allotment me and my Dad share and water everything down there as well.

Does seem to be a north/south divide here. It ain't been that bad in Essex but the scenery is unspectacular, so horses for courses.
