Need some advice please.
We have decided to upgrade our caravan to something newer and bigger but not sure what to do with our 1990 Silver line Nova princess GT. It's got a few problems with soft patches in the front corners, the kitchen window slips down when open and the kitchen tap runs when the basin tap is used. Oh and the fridge no longer works on gas.Husband doesn't want to do anymore work on it and I've been led to believe that these 'vans can be quite sort after because they are compact (it's less than 6 feet wide)

Question is best way of selling it? Obviously upfront advert listing all her faults as a project, but where eBay? Free adds on here? Bit nervous to be honest

Hi

E bay is your best bet
Plenty of pictures and a honest description.
Put it on a auction and it will sell for what it's worth.

Think the selling fees are a max of £40 but this is if it goes for more than £400 otherwise it's 10% of final sale price.

It's the quickest and easiest way to sell as you don't tend to get time wasters they bid and they buy if the description matches the van.

Good luck with your sale

Thanks pencamper, not sold a caravan before.

Will miss my crappy old caravan....but excited about the new 'van too.

Scammers are what I'm worried about.

Hi
If you put it on for bidding only and cash on collection you should be ok.
You will get the how much for buy it now but just stick to the bidding process and you should be ok.

Don't accept PayPal or any other form of payment.
When I bought mine I met the seller at the bank and did a bank transfer.that's the best way.

Good luck

Right, just got to work out starting price and whether to sell with equipment or not.
Probably with equipment, contact immediately, cash on collection.

Thanks

unless it has special value.. as you describe it.. it wont be worth much.. an auction will find the price for you.. with anything else you have to have some idea of what it is really worth.. look around at what similar things sell for..

ultimately its worth what someone will pay for it.. a figure of £500 quid max pops into my mind..

Ebay is definitely your best bet, but be brutally honest with the description so you get no come back and give the buyer a receipt making it clear it is "sold as seen." Most genuine buyers will want to come and view it anyway before bidding.

If you don't want risk selling for peanuts, set a reserve price - get some idea of the reserve price by looking on the net at what similar vans have sold for recently.

Cash on collection is a good option - when we bought ours for cash, the person we bought from had a special sort of pen to test the notes were not fakes. Wouldn't like to say how reliable these are (our notes came hot of the press from Lloyds!)

Patches if your notes came hot off the press from Lloyds they must have been fakes and the blokes pen did not work. I thought all notes came from the royal mint along with coin. Near to Ponty Clun in South wales I remember the Brewery very well one of the best Birthdays I've had in a long time.

Good luck with your sale superbird, I have a 1987 Silverline Nova Vanden Plas I think it's a more basic model than yours but had been stored in a garage all it's life so is mint. I think Elddis should make a new version of this size of van. I think it would encourage young people into caravanning, more like a campervan on wheels and less daunting to tow at only 5'7" wide as you say.

I completely agree that one of the main manufacturers should make a new version of this size van. It's been a fantastic first caravan and ideal for weekends away.

Thanks Patches I'm going to put photographs of all the bad bits as well as the good on the listing, just hope it sells!

Gumtree, not as many scammers as doesn't reach as wide an audience and more locally based to your area.

Adverts section on here.

Sold our 1994 Elddis last August through Gumtree no problems.

Good luck.

'Husband has suggested we keep it as a shed! '

That sounds like an excellent idea - you could have it as a summer house - you could re-live your happy times in it!

If you do decide to sell it on Ebay take a look at the completed listings for your type of caravan - then you'll know what they sell for. I often sell things buy the 'buy it now' option but I put a best offer on it too. That gives people the option to haggle a bit and for you to make a sale when perhaps the offer is only just shy of what you want. I think giving that flexibility results in quicker sales.

I've never had a problem selling or buying on Ebay and use PayPal all the time. I've never heard of scams when using this method of payment.
