Just spent a lovely weekend on a pitch configured (from left to right viewed from the front, car, caravan, awning. Pitches were spaced the standard safety distance apart so this didn't leave much room between our pitch and the car on the next pitch.

Some higorant peasant from a vehicle with tent attached combination on the pitch immediately behind my neighbours pitch kept walking diagonally (the shortest distance) between his pitch and the loos / bins / washing up area using the narrow gap between my pitch and neighbours car and cutting straight across in front of my hitch to continue his route to the facilities.

I was fuming and wanted to remonstrate with him but was overruled by SWMBO.

Perfectly adequate paths were in place and the extra distance would not have greatly incovenienced our higorant peasant but he continued on his merry way about 6 times in each direction in the space of an hour and a half.

I would never dream of such an incursion into anothers privacy.

Is it just me who finds this lack of consideration for others bloody annoying? Am I wrong to be peeved? Should I have invited the blighter in for a cuppa?

Instinct said punch his damn lights out!

Best Regards

David

You need to pitch way back from the facilities, ideally pushed against a boundary hedge, as despite not liking people taking the shortest route to these facilities, it is going to be a fact of life. I don't like it so don't pitch where its going to happen, that way I don't get upset and so enjoy being away.

This is also my one pet hate, we had it so bad last time we was away that I parked the car tight to our guyropes, next thing I know I hear a noise and he has tripped over our guyropes, and tried to get funny with me. He did not get very far after I asked if he would like it if I kept walking past his caravan window and taping the side as I go, he walked away and didn't see him cut across again!!

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. Isn't camping about mixing with others, not building a replacement for Hadrians Wall ?

We had this last year in Wales. Pitched across from the facilities other campers rather than use the paths kept walking down the side of our caravan even looking through the window whilst we were eating. I even shouted yes it's chilli and rice tonight to one who was having a good old noisy!

When we were away in May, our pitch appeared to be a short cut to the footpath. It was okay but people kept walking right past our window (they had to swerve to miss window when open), frightened life out of me and dog on a couple of occasions. Didn't mind apart from when they had a good nosy in!

We were 100m from facilities. This hignoramus just preferred our pitch to the natural paths.

Our pet hate also, we are sociable people but we have paid for that space, we never invade someone elses pitch unless invited! We were pleasantly surprised this week when a lady actually stopped and asked us if she could cut across as she "was desperate" we let her pass as she had the manners to ask!

Hate it with a passion. Almost as bad as lazy gits who park in either disabled spaces at shops or parent and child spaces with no kids in the car. Laziness and selfishness are two traits that blight this country.

We used to camp and on a lot of the sites the tents were that close the pegs from other tents were up against yours, people walking through our pitch never bothers us. When we purchased our first caravan we ensured our grand children were made aware of the courtesy of walking around and not cutting across other peoples pitches.

Windbreaker costs buttons to buy but can make you feel more comfortable in these situations,
then take it down when the problem stops

As an MPV driver (with no kids), I would say that not all of us use them due to being "lazy gits". I have no qualms about parking in a Parent/toddler bay, if:
1/ The normal bays are so narrow that I can't get out without whacking a dent in the neighbouring car.
2/ The neighbouring cars are parked by someone so p**s poor at driving that not only have they driven in forwards, and will have to swing the front end over to get out, but haven't even straightened up, (often with one tyre on the line!) minimising the available door space even further!!
3/ There are no other normal bays (wide enough for MPV) available anywhere.

One way of minimising this problem, imo (where "lazy gits" are concerned) would be to put the Parent/child bays at the far end of the car park. Afterall, they only need the extra width. They don't need to be nearer to the entrance (Unless I'm missing something?). This way, the "lazy gits" wouldn't be so tempted, leaving them available for those parents with toddlers, and those of us with little choice to use them (without boycotting the relative establishment, of course!)

Totally agree about the disabled bays though. Never been one for stooping that low!
