Hate it with a passion. Almost as bad as lazy gits who park in either disabled spaces at shops or parent and child spaces with no kids in the car. Laziness and selfishness are two traits that blight this country.
As an MPV driver (with no kids), I would say that not all of us use them due to being "lazy gits". I have no qualms about parking in a Parent/toddler bay, if:
1/ The normal bays are so narrow that I can't get out without whacking a dent in the neighbouring car.
2/ The neighbouring cars are parked by someone so p**s poor at driving that not only have they driven in forwards, and will have to swing the front end over to get out, but haven't even straightened up, (often with one tyre on the line!) minimising the available door space even further!!
3/ There are no other normal bays (wide enough for MPV) available anywhere.
One way of minimising this problem, imo (where "lazy gits" are concerned) would be to put the Parent/child bays at the far end of the car park. Afterall, they only need the extra width. They don't need to be nearer to the entrance (Unless I'm missing something?). This way, the "lazy gits" wouldn't be so tempted, leaving them available for those parents with toddlers, and those of us with little choice to use them (without boycotting the relative establishment, of course!)
Totally agree about the disabled bays though. Never been one for stooping that low!
