Looking at the BBC forecast for the whole of the weekend, using Conwy as a source destination, it does not look good. I would definitely consider cancelling if I was towing from the North East. The final decision can only be made by yourselves as everybody has their own thoughts on when to tow and when not to, there will always be another weekend.
Thanks everyone you are saying our exact thoughts we have cancelled.
Weekends for us are a rarity and have to be booked and planned ahead. Since we purchased this newer van last year its been nothing but issues that have prevented us using it, we have had only 3 trips this year which is why we were so desperate to go this weekend.
The sun is shining both here and there at the moment but the wind is building rapidly. This was to be the first time we were to see our son in 3 1/2 months which is what makes it even harder.
Hoping the weather will allow us to have a day trip tomorrow :(
weather in Derbyshire has been lovly and sunny all morning , but breezy. About 10 minutes ago it went black as night, wind became violent and it is chucking it down , you did the right thing
------------- It's not what you take when you leave this world behind, it's what you leave behind when you're gone
Cit depends on how far and if it's still bad I would cancel the wind can be very scary . Also if it's horrible the whole weekend you wouldn't enjoy it .
Good luck .
If you do go take it slow and steady .

Thank you everyone for the comments.
Oh dear I was going to say just go somewhere near to home . Or go and stay in a b&b to visit your son . My son is in the Netherlands we take the van there . But I have also thought about a cheap hotel .
Feel better now I have managed to talk to my son, he has been on Shell Island all day so no phone signal. The wind has been so strong when someone dropped a bucket they couldn't catch it even running at full sprint until it hit a more settled spot in the dunes.
Ironically though the wind has died down here, could be the lull before it really gets going though.
Everyone evaluates risk differently. I certainly wouldn't tow in these conditions. It was so windy here earlier that dog and I struggled to get down the garden
I know it is frustrating - we have only had our van away once since August so I can understand how you feel. I agree with GCMS2012 - cancelling is much cheaper than sorting out an insurance claim.
Glad you made the decision to cancel. The weather report for North Wales (which we get in S. Cheshire) has a weather warning for heavy rain/flooding, so you'll probably need a dingy onboard!
Perhaps the site can hold your deposit for another weekend?
