Hi, we are relatively new to caravanning after buying van and all the equipment from a work colleague, we are currently on our first trip of the season, put the awning up and it has definitely seen better days, couple of rips etc. We even found a Robin in there this morning!
We like the size of the one we have - it says 390 and I'm assuming that has something to do with the size??
How do we know what size to buy? We quite like the idea of an air awning too.

Sorry for the stupid questions but we are learning as we go!

Thanks

And as with everything in life there is a rising scale of expenditure and quality to consider.
Named brands and labels.
New or second hand. You might want to consider whether or not it is worth buying new when you might change the van in a few years and thereby not get the value from it.

Lots to think about. I like the Isabella range.

Your describing a porch awning, the 390 refers to the length it goes alongside your van. as said before,do your research before buying another, measure your van to make sure that the awning doesn't cover a window,if you buy used, you can sometimes get included rear poles, canopy poles etc'these you can learn what they are by looking around,I have done a lot of trolling the net,and finally decided to buy a Kampa Rally air pro 390 as I am getting less mobile(fit) and the quality of Kampa and the single inflation point has made my mind up,best of luck and buy wisely.

Thanks for the replies folks, we have a few days off this week so going to have a shop around.
I've found a reasonable deal online for an Outdoor Revolution Air awning but can't find any reviews.
Thanks again

We have just arrived on a site. We arrived at the same time as another couple. Within half an hour they were all set up includng their air awning. We have an Isabella Magnum Charcoal Porch awning. It will take us longer than the air awning to put up but we love it.
We bought ours used( 2 years old) It cost £500 on Ebay and it was in an excellent condition. It came with an Isabella Bolon breathable ground sheet.

We had an air awning but found it very heavy to pull through the awning. We sold it after using it about 5 times.
It takes just as long to erect an air awning as it does a traditional awning like the Magnum. Plus you have all the securing ropes to hold it in place which you do nto have with the Magnum.

Would only recommend air awning for weekends. We have one, worst thing we ever bought, used it once, kept going down, had to take down in winds, suckers get jumping of and on caravan. Terrible, and bought it off a best mate, must have seen us coming

Our Suncamp air awning best thing ever. Just went through storm Katie on the south coast like a dream. Bent and swayed in the wind and rain and still standing in the morning whereby people with pole awnings lost them and had bent poles.

It's always price vs quality, I have a Bradcot aspire air 390, bought second hand £250 Inc electric pump. my neighbour has the dorema magnum 390 bought for £500, these 2 awnings are well made and solid in bad weather, when the wind gets up its surprising how quiet they are, no poles rattling around.

Highly recommend outdoor revolution air awnings they are very easy to put up and are made from rip stop fabric. We have just bought the next size up for our bailey Valencia and are selling the porch awning on here if your interested!

We've been to a few dealers today and we are now more confused as ever! We liked the Kampa Rally air pro, Kampa Rally air ace, Bradcot Aspire air and the Outdoor Revolution Oxygen Compact airlite.....they are all roughly the same price. Another night trawling the Internet for me

If the poles are rattling around in any sort of wind, then the awning has not been erected correctly. We have never heard poles rattling around on any awning we have erected.

To help you decide maybe look at the accessories you can get for each one such as the annexe and lighting for the Kampa. It also has the accessories rail built in.You may not want these now but always useful to have the facility.
Also, buy from a dealer not the Internet in case of any problems; was there a particular dealer you felt more comfortable with?
I can only speak for the Kampa Rally Air Pro - it is quick to put up but quite heavy to pull through - due to the quality of the fabric. Like another member on here we find it easy by first spraying the awning rail with furniture polish and then as husband pulls I feed through at the entry rail and push. SImples! Enjoy the hunt!!!!!
