On a recent visit to Baltic Wharf I was asked to park nose in to retain the inter unit spacing; it was an awning pitch.
In years gone by I have not had to do this but this was my first CC main site use in two years.
They have pitches too close to be able to do much else since they decided that awnings were part of the habitable unit from fire risk point of view.
In the Baltic Wharf case it was ideal for us, but more by chance with the pitch we had.
If Baltic Wharf typifies the current CC stance then No. The van front nearside corner needed to go on the peg; no issue raise with the "A" frame over the grass beyond the hardstanding.
In my case the car was placed across the van's rear at the mouth of the pitch.
With us with a trailer tent on CC sites the jockey wheel needs to be on the outside of the pitch and we face inside, never had a problem with it being the wrong way round.
No doubt with our luck, everything will NOT be alright, and the wardens will start to have a hissy fit seeing a caravan / awning set up NOT in the right 'order'....
They don't really have much choice! You're members, you're booked, you've either got to be the wrong way round or the wrong way round to be the right way round!!!
We have never had a problem on either CC or C&CC sites and have pitched both jockey wheel to the road and jockey wheel facing in. We just check it's OK first. As long as the van is in the centre of the pitch it doesn't matter which side car or awning are on.
Both clubs welcome foreign visitors to their sites so I can't see any problem with using a foreign van.

there has to be no less than 18 feet between units , otherwise in the event of a fire your insurance would be null and void ,
I don't think there is any such stipulation written into my insurance policy. However, the Club would no doubt face extreme difficulties in avoiding the consequences that come with assertions of negligence if they allowed habitable units to be closer than the now accepted guidelines.
A statement had been made earlier that things are okay if you are centred in the pitch; from my understanding that is not now allowed you need to be placed to the peg itself. I suspect if there was oodles of space between particular pitches a more understanding approach would be taken but with many pitches that is not the case. The underlying issue is that the pitches were spaced too closely, that suited the practices of yesteryear but with a greater acceptance of acting responsible to best practice in safety that freedom to pitch has been lost, together with some pitches now not being viable as "with awning" pitches.
That 6metre rule is a load of tosh....... At rowntree park cc site there's some absolutely huge pitches where in a motorhome or a caravan it would be great to go on side ways, but even though they have you pitching 6 metres apart, on some pitches you can be back to back with another unit, so fire only goes sideways ?
😡😖
------------- Keep smiling, its later than you think !
At Black Horse Farm we saw a couple hitch up and leave after one warden showed them how to park and another came along and wanted them to turn around! We are CC members but only use their sites when we have a 'free' voucher, we much prefer van across the back style pitches.
