Use ours lots in early spring and autumn. My favourite is good old fashioned stew. Put it on in morning before going out n return to lovely hot meal n a warmed van- all win win😄

A slow cooker uses the equivalent of 2 old fashioned 100w bulbs or less.

Very little power consumption.

We did try it, but didnt bother. Maybe if we tried it during the colder spells it may have stayed?

We took ours when we went to the New Forest in the October half term. Beef stew put on low at 9.30am, got back to the caravan around 5 ish, popped some dumplings in and dished up an hour later. Best bit is hardly any washing up!! Our best tea in the van is pulled pork in the slow cooker with either microwave rice or large white rolls - lovely!!!

We use ours a lot when camping no matter the season- but then I use it a lot at home.

Pork shoulder with rubbed in spices for pulled pork.
Gammon joint for a 'Sunday lunch'
Wrap potatoes in foil for jackets
Chilli/spaghetti bolognaise, sometimes bought frozen from home.
Sausage casserole/stew.

We use ours in a tent, and you generally get a bit more electric with caravan hook ups, so you'll be fine.

We use ours all the time too.

Your pulled pork - can you post a recipe or do you literally put it in with just a rub on it? Any water or liquid.

Can anyone give a curry recipe, I tend to cheat and buy a jar of sauce but prefer cooking from scratch and have not done so with a curry in the slow cooker before.

Thanks

With my pulled pork, CatieB, I use 'leg' of pork as I found it less fatty than a 'shoulder'. Take all visible fat off (and string!!) and pop it in the slow cooker, I use the Schwartz Slow Cookers BBQ Pulled Pork sachet and add 125ml tomato ketchup, 2 tbs soft brown sugar and 3 tbs white wine vinegar as per the instructions. Chuck it over the pork and cook on low for up to 8 hours or on high for up to 4 hours. I cook on low and after 5-6 hours I use a fork to break it up and give it a good stir then pop the lid back on for another couple of hours - yummy!!!

I just use a rub, usually homemade although I have just bought some of those schwartz sachets the PP suggested to try. My recipe is a bit of a cobbled together one but I use: a tablespoon of plain paprika and smoked paprika; a teaspoon of brown sugar and oregano then 1/2 a teaspoon of celery salt, garlic powder, dry mustard, onion powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, chilli powder. TBH these can all be amended to taste.

Rub in the pork (I will try a leg next time as I do cut a lot of the fat off), and place in slow cooker for 6-8 hours on low. Once it's cooked, I shred it, place back in SC with BBQ sauce to taste and leave it until we're ready to eat it.
