Hello, can anyone recommend the Sunncamp Swift 260 porch awning?? The Kampa porches have also caught my eye but I'm hoping the cheaper Sunncamp porches also get good reviews.
We have the air Sunncamp porch. It gets used at the start and end of the season so tends to get the worst weather, wind and rain. This is it's third year and we're happy with it. Have a vango varkala 420 for longer stays.
We bought a secondhand Sunncamp Swift 220 to try - we'd been using a Dorema porch. We are very pleased with the Sunncamp, its so quick and easy to put up and is big enough for a small table and chairs and to store the cadac etc overnight. It packs up small and is very light. We're definitely going to buy a newer model when this one is worn out.
That's great hear Homebird2003! We were hoping that the Swift 260 would be large enough for a table and 4 chairs. Failing that we'll have to consider a full size awning.
There's an ancient size 8 Bradcot awning on ebay at the moment that should fit. We've bought a really old caravan and plan to upgrade next summer so we don't want to spend too much this season only to replace it all next year.
Sunncamp porch or preloved full sized awning.. decisions decisions..
It depends on how you camp as to which awning would suit you best. We weekend rally mostly so a quick porch is ideal. If you are planning week long holidays then a full awning would be worth putting up.
We had one but if you do not have the optional back poles the rain blows in.We did buy poles but only used it for a couple of years and found we needed a bit larger one and as we had previously bought the rear poles we used them with the next one which is presently an Outdoor Revolution.
Thanks birdman the Outdoor Revolution looks fab, though way over our budget for this year. Maybe next year.
We're now edging towards the preloved full awning but before we click buy I'm going to plan out exactly how much space we actually need for the table and 4 chairs, cooker etc. The more space we have the more stuff I'll bring!
Homebird we usually head away for short trips, in a large tent! The windy weather in recent years has prevented longer hols so hopefully the caravan will result in more adventures this year :-)
Some sites charge extra for a full awning, some awnings can be heavy/complicated if a first time user to erect,we have a Sunncamp 330 and 390(very pleased with both) and a Kampa 330 air awning(very heavy)so if possible,go to a dealer that has awnings erected, and ask their advice before you commit
Not had a Sunncamp, but got a Kampa Rallye Pro 260. It takes but 10 minutes to put up on my own, and has taken some right batterings with the weather. Cant speak highly enoughof it.
As we explored the porch options we realised it really wouldn't suit our growing family. So after a lot of googling we've ordered a full sized, second-hand awning!
We have years of tent camping experience so "awning construction' hopefully won't be too daunting. But, as we're totally new to caravan camping, you can be sure I'll be back with more questions!
Had a cheap Sunncamp it was ok but we added Clingons to the skirts as they just blew up all the time. Lasted a year & we ended up buying a Kampa, much better.
