I think the cracked rear panels and leaking of the large Heki rooflights (poor workmanship) have been sorted.
I have a Compass Omega (Elddis, based on the Affinty) lots of niggles and found the cracked rear panel. The panel was replaced under warranty and niggles sorted at first service when the dealer also found 30% damp and staining of roof panels around the Heki rooflight. New rooflight and panels were fitted.
I have a good dealer and he made a good job of it, otherwise very happy. Read the warranty conditions, only 12 months on front and rear panels!
To be fair, other caravan manufacturers have had similar problems.

Just to add the warranty is between the dealership and the manufacturer so does not affect the consumer who can claim against the dealership at any time but within 6 years if in England and Wales.
We have had the rear panel replaced and a fix done on the front panel and hopefully all will be well. We are very pleased with our caravan.
Not much good news in the first 2 posts so if your existing caravan is good why spend a large amount of cash to buy an unknown entity that might be much more trouble than what you have?
To answer the above question. Because you have money to spend & want a nice new caravan not one that's 10yrs old? Well, new caravans are selling in record numbers. They can't all be faulty so if you want it buy it. You will get no definitive answer on this or any other forum.
When looking at a new caravan have a look in the front gas locker to see if is sealed at the top corners as this is a rat run to the top lockers this is big fault in most caravans
Just taken delivery of a Eldiss Osprey 550, from Raymond James, based on the Avante but with loads of extras, heating is brilliant, loads of features too including motor mover. Well worth a look
With the show on at the NEC this month I"m sure there'll be something to tempt you.
At the end of the day it's whatever suits your purpose, as said you can get problems with everything you buy but hopefully they are a few and far between with caravans.

We bought a new Elddis in 2014, it spent mot of the year back at the dealers being repaired. After only nine months we part exchanged it for our current van, which is better equipped and a far higher standard than the Elddis was. Currently we would not have another van from that manufacturer, but things could improve with the takeover.
Not got an Elddis.
BUT we had a Bailey Barcelona all singing all dancing, and got caught out.
Now we are very pleased with our latest Barcelona.
But let us be honest on the forum.
All manufacturers go through a period of faults, and eventually sort them out in the end.
As long as the dealer you are getting it from is ok, then no worries.
I have never seen any van yet, that has been delivered to a customer , without a fault somewhere.
Minor or major.
You cannot please everyone all the time.
If this model is right for you then fine.
You could buy another model, or make and also have a nightmare along the way.
"He also revealed that the introduction of SoLiD construction in recent times had made The Explorer Group products more attractive than ever, with sales doubling over the past eight years: “This makes us the only provider of fully structurally bonded caravans and motorhomes in the UK.”

We are starting to get problems with our van, 3 windows delaminated now fixed but two have now got small cracks, sink in toilet plastic has cracked, have managed to seal it.
This is why we were looking at new van and this Elldis is the only one with double dinette layout. All the vans now fixed beds which we don't want. Went to caravan show at Glasgow and saw nothing.
Wanted feedback on Elldis make as they seem to have has a lot of problems.
