Looking for somewhere to for the end of May B/H week (and struggling!)...
I think it has been said on here that since the Caravan Club changed / re-branded itself to the Caravan and Motorhome Club, they've well and truly hiked their prices!
So, should we jump ship to the C&CC come renewal time or not, as they seem cheaper now against the CAMC?
The other thing that really concerns too is, will we lose our Green flag breakdown cover?
We've had no problems with the C&CC. We like their sites, and their staff always seem friendly. From what I have heard, the C&MC tend to be a bit more regimental, and less friendly, but that is only what I have heard, as I have never been on any of their sites.
Why would you lose the breakdown cover? I doubt whether Green Flag would want to lose your custom, unless you are always calling them out.
------------- Best Regards,
Colin

There are plenty of small CLs around the network, many with decent facilities and hardstandings available for a very fair price.
We gave up paying silly money for pitches over bank holiday weekends many seasons ago, and now only use the Club sites in early and late season when their prices are more reasonable and the place more peaceful and quiet.
We spent a week at the Sandringham Estate CC site in mid March for just £140, and enjoyed the choice of many pitches that have been fully occupied on previous visits which causes a problem sometimes due to my limited mobility. Even after requesting a Disabled visitor pitch, at busy times we have still needed to use my mobilty scooter to cover the distance of several pitches, sometimes of about 100yds down to the Disabled facilities.

------------- Just love to be out amoungst Nature and Wildlife
Celebrating 37 years of Caravanning in 2019, Recently Considered Retiring, but Totally Addicted for Life!
We belonged to both clubs, but dropped the Caravan Club and now just C&CC as we find better value and now with C&CC Arrival` breakdown cover which again works out cheaper.
We originally joined the caravan club to take advantage of its Red Pennant cover way back in 1991.We joined the C&CC one year when one of their sites was convenient for a weeks stay and it made economic sense to join rather than pay the non member fee. We are still CC members but did not renew the C&CC as we did not feel that we would make use of it.
We dont stay on many CC sites,we do use a CL regularly to visit family, but do quite a few rallies each year as they tend to get you a good site at a good price.
From comments I have seen it appears that people are CC members for many reasons and it may be,like us that they dont really worry too much about the price as they use sites infrequently.
We love the c&cc and find them reasonable price wise. Our main summer holiday this year is 14 nights in Cornwall and it's just under £280.
I would not worry about losing green flag too much as arrival is VERY good rac cover the bonus here is rac have a higher roadside fix rate than green flag.
We have also used c&cc from the north of Scotland right down to Cornwall and never been disappointed. Have never been members of the caravan club but i would highly recommend the camping and caravaning club
Does the RAC Arrival have onward travel and will they attend a breakdown where the UK built caravan is over 8m in length? I can remember that at one time they had a restriction on length.
Also for the short time that we belonged to the C&CC we came across some very officious wardens plus not being able to stay on to 4pm on a weekend. No issue with the CC on both counts.
It don't matter if you leave the cc you still member of the green flag mayday as long as you don't let it lapse. Then if you do let it lapse to get back with mayday you would have to rejoin cc

I think you will find both clubs are pricey at peak periods!
Since retiring we don't do bank holidays, leaving space for those still working.
We try to take advantage of low or mid week offers with CMC and use our over 55 discounts with C&CC.
There are also CLs,CSs and temporary holiday sites(C&CC)
------------- DS-There's more to life than football!!!
I guess the only way to make up your mind ,would be to price a site of similar quality/location etc with the CCC.
Like for like is the only real way to compare prices. Some folk quote prices and forget to say they have 2 children and 4 dogs or no hookup, a basic field site etc..
------------- It is a wise man who has something to say.
It is a fool who has to say something.
We are in both clubs and like others think of just being in one. I was told that they do not compete by having sites close to one another so by being in both we have a better choice of areas to visit.
We tend to avoid peak season as it gets expensive.
Both clubs have a few sites that are open all year which we like.
We have met many really good wardens and only two officious ones, one was CC the other was CMC so equal on that.
We have RAC membership though the CCC but could probably negotiate a deal even if we were not in the CCC
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
