I am interested in a used caravan being sold by the above new company and wondered if any one had any advice regarding them. Would I be safe paying by credit card?
Quick link to Adwick, don't see any new vans in their stock list.
------------- XVI yes?

How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?

They advertise a lot on Facebook - Midlands caravan and Camping Forum/buy and sell. You might get some feedback on there. It's not alway s the same name that posts the vans though. Their website looks better now but still has a few errors on it but then everybody can spell properly.
Yis your right, have had a look at FB, checked locations etc and they seem fine. I would just like to know about any finance on the van and would paying by CC give me protection?
You would need to do a Cris check on the caravan to find all that out. To be safe pay for the check yourself then you know its done. You can do it on Cris website . You will need the number etched into caravan windows to do the check. Current comsumer law allows return within 30 days & refund should serious faults like extensive damp become apparent within that period. cris.
I visited the sales site at an agreed time, there was no one there, nor was it obvious which house it was, there isn't a 61. Eventually a chap turned up. While showing me the van he answered about three phone calls, he was so rude.
The van had defects which he said were being repaired "tomorrow". He said he had not seen any damp and had no idea of the age of the tyres. He attempted to check the age of the tyres and then answered another phone call.
I should have gone with my gut feeling in the first place and avoided the place.
Sounds like your gut was definitely right.
He had not 'seen' any damp, that's a great line.

Thanks for that, very interesting. I also wondered if they had planning permission as there were no signs indication it's location visible from the road. There was a portable one behind the garden wall which could not be seen from the road.
He mentioned three defects which he pointed out but failed to mention the cracked faring on the "A" frame.
On the question of damp he said he could get a damp meter, I said don't bother I have one in my pocket!
If you look at the Companies House listing you can see that the two directors are very young so I would wonder how much experience they might have. The company hasn't been registered very long either. A look at Google Streetview shows this is a residential road not a business/industrial area.
As for Facebook references and feedback, I looked up the Facebook page of a local garage that I had visited to find that all the comments came from people with the same surnames as the directors and salesman. This was a main dealer that should be reputable and reliable but after six months they still haven't come back to me with a part exchange price for my car against a brand new car so I presume they don't need the business.
