Away next week, first trip in cold weather, any thoughts on aquaroll covers ? It's a fully serviced pitch so do we leave the water connected all night or disconnect it. Forecast is for using days but -1c at night, which could be colder in shade and countryside
Thanks Jen

There are various insulated Aquaroll covers you can buy but not all of them protect the pump pipe to the connector. However, if you are considering caravanning through the winter months each year then the one shown in the link maybe a good investment.

That's the one we are looking, it's the pipe going into the van which could cause trouble, and anything that takes the edge off the cold can help. Thanks for your reply

I have got an aquaroll insulated bag which I have used just twice but it's the type that just covers the water barrel itself and nothing more. The pump pipe had to covered independently which can be covered by an old part of a duvet cover or easier still by 22mm. copper water pipe insulation foam obtainable from most DIY outlets for under a quid. From experience I would think that the insulation bag which incoprporates the pump sleeve as shown in the link would be more convenient and practical.

I have the insulated type with a pipe cover. I also place the aquaroll on wooden planks to keep it off the ground.

Bought.Had a good search on the web, your link is the best price even with postage.
All set to go-once it's delivered.....
After reading reviews it seems to be the pipe which is the main bit, suppose insulating pipe from wickes might suffice with the cover you have
Thanks again

I bought one and use it also to prevent damage to the caravan when towing when the aqua roll is carried in the caravan.

Stand ours on a bit of hard matting, but a bit more insulation might be a good idea this time out

I have an internal tank so make sure that is full before going to bed and then bring the pump inside. There isthen plenty of water for showers and breakfast. One morning I could not break the ice on the aquaroll to put the pump back in but the internal tank was fine.
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.

As the reduction in temperature at night starts in the air, leaving the aquaroll sat on the ground will allow the warmer ground temperature to feed back into the aquaroll.
The pipe will be the first to freeze.
Insulation will not stop freezing, only slow it down
For really cold nights a well insulated aquaroll and pipe could be assisted by using a fish tank heater in the aquaroll

I have seen old padded parka jackets used, the pipework is then routed up the sleeve.

I've used a cover and pipe insulation in sub zero and it's been fine.
