Around 12 months ago, at the Caravan and Motorhome Club Council, I brought up the subject of the difficulty in parking at motorway service areas with a caravan in tow, and highlighted that this was a safety issue if tired drivers were unable to find a place to pull up safely to rest. Driver fatigue at the very least is a contributory factor in motorway accidents. Some of our motorway service areas are not good at providing suitable spaces for caravans and others are not good at monitoring these areas to make sure that such spaces are not used by other vehicles. The Club Council referred the subject to the Technical Committee.
The Club has now raised these concerns at National Towing Working Group meetings, and in response, there’s now an opportunity to give your views on how you use Service Areas, and what your experience has been. I would like to encourage as many caravanners as possible to fill in the survey by following the link below.
This survey will give the opportunity to get your views directly into the regular discussions held between Highways England and the Service Area operators. Please note, you can give feedback on your experiences throughout the UK, not just with Service Areas in England, though.
Please share this information with your caravanning friends so that we can get as many responses as possible.
I have completed the survey David and let's hope that some drastic changes can be implemented in the interest of caravanners and motorhomers to make our services more user friendly and for drivers to be able take a break when needed without any excessive overnight fees.

All done David come on everyone, the more the response the louder the voice.
We stopped at Fleet on M3 last week, we didn't even get to park we were sent away as they were doing a refurb and there was no room for us, a few days later we stopped M25 South Mims theres about 4 or 5 spaces for caravans we have a small outfit and we only just fitted the bay, a larger outfit would overhang and I certainly wouldn't want to sleep over there due to the location of the spaces. Clackets on M25 is just as bad they just have a layby round the edge

Done mine, wish you could do something about France. Always plenty of caravan bays but usually full of cars when there are plenty of car parking bays empty. Very annoying.
You must be using the wrong ones, only ever had the odd issue in France with cars in caravan bays and there is always plenty of caravan bays to go round, normally.

How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Thanks to all who have done the questionnaire so far. Please do all you can to publicise this amongst your caravanning friends so that everyone can have their say.
