While away in our caravan this gorgeous bank holiday we got to be nosying about a Hobby van - very lovely looking and wide. Which started us thinking about European makes - although I wonder how much trouble you have on UK sites when the door is on the opposite side - most sites like you to line up car, van awning in order.

Plenty of hobby s on every site I have been on in France and Spain
Yes but that's a lot different to here.
People from mainland Europe tend to stick with what the know ie Hobby, Sterckeman, Knaus, Fendt etc.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Never been refused on site in 14 years in my Hobby. Sometimes park nose in, other times not.
Quite handy sometimes when we go away with friends with UK-style 'van - we both pitch the same way in such a way that the awnings face each other and we have a 'communal' space between us.

You are using the wrong sites then. Any place that dictates such stringent rules cannot possibly be conducive to a carefree stay.
HI
Hobby Caravans are good vans.
They used to do a UK model at one time with door on UK side.
But see plenty around on all sites, C&CC and Private Sites.
As for feeling like, or took for a traveller, don't bloody worry. They use all makes of vans, not just Hobby.
Anyone with a pick up or panel van towing a caravan is classed as a traveller, by the PC lot.
Look at them and make your own mind up, the main dealer in the UK, is in Ambergate Derbyshire.
Some good 2nd hand ones around, been PX by the traveling community.
Had ours 8 years only refused once,so we booked another site one mile away,so there loss, there's more uk vans on travellers site because there arnt many Hobby vans in the UK for them to steal, although the dealer were we had ours from said he had sold some to travellers.
We’ve got a Hymer with the door on the continental side. We have just come back from a CMHC site and there wasn’t any problem with pitching, we could reverse in or go nose in, they left it to us.
We had a lot of travellers on a park and ride near us and I hardy saw any Hobby caravans at all.
I hadn't really thought about the traveller issue, just wondered if there were any other pros and cons. TBF the only site we have ever been on that seemed autocratic was the CCC site at forest of Dean, so sounds like most would be fine about the european side door. I'll have a look at the other makes you have mentioned as well.
