Couple of problems my 100ah battery seems to lose all charge after 24 hours i only use the ignitors for fridge and cooker which run on gas any sugestions? Also can i put a 130ah on the caravan or will it burn the electrics box out or blow the fuses.
Many thanks for your help before and hope you can help this time👍
The first thing I would do is to get your existing battery tested.
If it is faulty, you could increase the size, but what caravan have you got, and what year ?

sounds like battery is loosing its charge if only using ignitors or are you leaving lights on when fishing ? no EHU I presume so batt only charging when towed by car to fishing site. are you sure your not trying to run fridge on battery ? how about other 12 volt gear like water pump tv ?
Not using any other things..fridge definitely on gas.I charge battery fully before I leave home so it's full when I get to syndicate lake.Think I'll get the battery tested, but not sure where to go for this test?
Ok James I'll go to Halfords and ask..if not I'll try Kwik Fit they might know where to go if they don't check batteries.
If the battery is ok then I don't know what to try unless there's a permanent drain on it.
Back to your original question, a 130Ah battery would work fine, but it will be large and very heavy. I suspect it would not fit most battery boxes, which are often tight enough even on 100/110Ah batteries.
If all you are using is what you say, even your 100ah battery is more than adequate. I would suspect that either the battery has had it, or something else is drawing power when it shouldn't be. Just using igniters I would expect a half decent 100ah battery to last me a month.
If you want to use a bigger battery you will have no problem with any electrics boxes or fuses. All you are doing is increasing the capacity of the battery, not its power. It's just like using a 15kg gas cylinder rather than a 7kg one. It simply lasts longer.
buying a higher capacity one wont affect fuses or anything as long as the voltage is the same..
it comes down to how much room you have in the battery compartment..my own view with batteries is "the bigger the better"..
trog
ps.. a 100 amp hour battery is only a 100 amp hour battery when its new.. with use they wear out and the capacity drops.. what was 100 becomes 90 80 70 60 50 until a point is reached when the battery is next to useless.. its a shame people dont seem to be aware of this simple fact.. :)
Buying a bigger battery means you need to check teh dimensions of your battery box to see if it fits. Also check the position and type of terminals are suitable. Also make sure the dimensions leave room for the leads etc.
