We went away 3 weeks ago and, goodness know how, but the toilet didn't get emptied. So last week we had to get everything ready for a few days away. You can imagine the stench after it had been sitting there for 3 weeks in this heat 😷 It actually made my husband sick lol!! Anyway, it's all cleaned and we've been away for a few days, but I have to say there is definitely a lingering smell in there. We used lots of pink and blue.
Can anyone please recommend what we can use to freshen it up? I thought about leaving it to soak with a zoflora mix??
Probably needs a good clean around bowl & lid. Use wet wipes I do. I think the toilet chemicals do more harm than good. Use plain water in the flush tank & a couple of capfuls of bio washing liquid just the cheap supermkt brand in the main tank. Works better than blue liquid & cheaper.
I have once left the cassette full of wee for a couple of weeks in high summer. The blue chem looked after the possibility of "aroma" I can't offer advice on pongs after a No2 as I have never taken a dump in my caravan loo
I had some elsan bowl cleaner, that you use like toilet duck under the rim and in the bowl and has a lemon smell and makes the toilet cubicle smell much more pleasant
my honest thoughts are that if the seals on the loo are okay there should not be any lingering smells at all..
i think the cassette assuming it is that type needs new seals.. bear in mind its designed to hold fecal matter and not stink but this will rely on the flap seal doing its job..
i did fit new seals on my cassette and you can buy complete replacement cassettes..
Leave it out in the garden for a couple of days with the trap open.
A lemon cut into segments gets rid of all known kitchen smalls - might work for the cassette too. Try sticking a couple in it and leave it for a couple of days.
