The benevolence of caravan manufacturers and dealers or should I say lack of it, never ceases to amaze me.
We’ve just heard from the countries worst caravan dealer (by a country mile), that the manufacturer (Lunar) have decided as a good will gesture to honour warranty claims for vans from 2017 onwards. Our 2016 van with a floor problem will therefore not be covered.
The dealer informs me that any inspection or work they undertake will be chargeable. In their dreams!!
May I at this point sing the praises from the roof tops of the Which legal team. They have been brilliant and an email / letter composed as per their advice will be sent to the errant dealer in the near future.
How kind of Lunar (or should I say the new owners Lunar Automotive) to honour warranty claims for caravans constructed with in built faults.
So those of you with 2017 Lunars with problems get your warranty claim submitted quickly before they change their minds!
It isn't Lunars problem, it the dealers problem, they sold you the caravan they have to stand the warranty cost, a reasonable person would expect a floor to last longer than 3 years so the law is on your side

We have also used Which Legal Services with great success and would recommend them to any one who is having an issue with a dealer and a claim. Since Oct 2015 consumer protection from rogue suppliers as increased significantly!
It doesn’t surprise me Iank01 caravan dealers after sales is absolutely abysmal. Problem is everyone seems to expect it to be. If you paid £25k for a car you’d sharp be onto the dealer if there was anything wrong with it and you’d expect him to sort it sharpish!
Caravan dealers get away with it because we let them! The dealer we got this van from has demanded copies of more paperwork than you can shake a hairy stick at all in an effort to wriggle off the hook. I didn’t notice them being so pedantic when they were parting her in doors from best part of £25k.
We’ve bought caravans from 4 different dealers now and they’ve all been inefficient and reluctant to help with any after sales queries or warranty work.
This lot even sent me an email asking for a copy of the PDI - I replied saying that as they carried it out they should look at their records!! Useless bunch.
Actually on the subject of said PDI I noticed they’d ticked the box that said the blown air heating was working fine - something of a feat given the caravan has Alde heating!!
David not sure if you're aware, but there is a post edit button for use up to two hours after posting.

How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Lunar are supplying parts and 50% of the labour cost up until autumn 2022, it depends on the dealer who pays the remaining 50%, some dealers have offered to pay it unfortunately Campbell's who is my dealer isn't offering, what a surprise. If this is so I'll never buy another caravan from them again.

Take Paul B with you to the dealer, he will put them right for sure.
No need he's already going about it the right way via the which legal route, the warranty is with the supply dealer and the Which solicitors will explain this to the dealer.
David can also make a claim on the dealer for the stress they have caused by the way they've treated him

We had shock absorbers fitted to the caravan by the dealer, but on the next service it said not checked as not fitted! Surely they can be seen when the wheel is removed?

Eeh well I got a response from dealer saying nowt to do with us caravan is 4 years old no dealer warranty if you want it fixed we’ll charge you for the inspection and for the repairs.
Dealers don’t seem to want to take any responsibility for the expensive goods they sell.
I’ve news for them Sale of Goods act covers for 6 years!
Also found out we get some kind of help because we paid both the deposit and balance using a debit card. Should have used a credit card and they I could have let the credit card company pursue the errant dealer!! Ho hum
When we got our new caravan in May the dealer sent out an information pack and in it was the ways to pay the outstanding balance, it clearly stated paying by credit card was not an option.
We had paid the deposit via credit card though.

If the caravan was bought/delivered after Oct 2015 then it is covered under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and not the Sale of Goods Act.
The issue here is proving that the floor problem is an inherent fault, but Which Legal would have told you that anyway.
Section 9, 10 and 11 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (“the Act”) requires you to supply goods that are of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose (which includes that the item should be: free from minor defects, safe and durable) and that are as described.
The above is a paragraph from the formal letter of complaint.
