I think both Club's are keeping their sites open but of course it is a very fluid situation which could change.

I rang the Caravan Club and all sites are open. Extra precautions are being taken re infection control.
We are still going at Easter, then again if there is a full lockdown we will obviously stay at home.

Yes, many sites are open at the moment, including Club sites, but the situation is changing daily and so is advice. A site that is open at the moment may not be open next week. It could easily decide to close tomorrow if advice from the NHS changes, which it could at any time.

The approach being taken by all European countries including UK is to stop spread of virus by trying to make people remain close to their homes & avoid all but essential travel outside their immediate areas.

Holidaymakers who believe they can go to somewhere rural like Cornwall & “self isolate” there are not really understanding the object of the exercise.

In the UK we do not have the sort of armed military style police force they have for example in France & Spain. Also UK folks are not as naturally compliant as for example the Germans.

So it’ mostly up to the individual to play it how they think. I’m somehow guessing that campsites will not be open at Easter.

West Country MP's and tourism chiefs are advising people to stay away. Our NHS is stretched as it is.

Yes and that is exactly what we are going to do, stay at home and heed their advice. Much as we love Cornwall, and we have relatives who live there, we do not live there so we will be staying at home. As far as we know we are ok at the moment, but there is no way we will risk spreading it just in case. We are both in the age group where we are supposed to stay at home anyway.

Due to my age I have been self isolating for a week now. Apart from picking up a prescription from the surgery I haven't been out at all. Living in a rural village I may go for a quick stroll when it is quiet if I really get bored. My wife does walk the dog a couple of times during the day but keeps her distance from other people including her dog walking friends. I give the dog her last walk late at night, just down the road and back.

Providing I can keep getting provisions delivered I have no need to go anywhere although I may give the wife a run out in the car occasionally to give her a change of scenery and assuming it is still allowed. Won't be getting out the car though.

All friends and relatives have been told to stay away and they fully agree, as many of them are doing the same.

I have plenty of gardening to get on with and may even do a bit of decorating if I have a sudden rush of blood to the head.

About now I would normally be looking forward to camping trips but one has to be sensible. I may have gone stir crazy in a few week's time but what's new.

Stay in...stay safe...stay healthy.

You seem to be doing very similar to us Bob, and we live in a village too, albeit quite a big one. Well its really 3 villages in one, but with one high street with a few shops and pubs.

We have cancelled all our regular events, commitments, and outings, but might take the car out for a run just to give it a run and us a change of scenery. Hertfordshire has some beautiful countryside, and so does Essex which is just a mile up the road to us. They are both very underrated in my opinion. We won't be getting out of the car either if we do. I remember many years ago we just used to "go for a drive" but we haven't done that for decades. Largely because of the cost I suppose.

Colin

Yes, cannot believe why people are even enquiring.........DONT TRAVEL.

Jees, how clear does it have to be, all campsites should be closed down. You will be made feel most unwelcome in Devon and Cornwall right now, I can see trouble ahead tbh.

The C&CC club sites are open but communal areas (toilets, showers etc) are closed. If I go for my Easter break it looks like I will have to dump in caravan toilet

Just had an email from C and Cc they are closing all sites
email as below
Dear

All our UK Club Sites will be closing with immediate effect, until further notice.

Throughout these unprecedented times, the Club has endeavoured to follow the advice of the government. Initially, our priority was to support our members overseas - as the situation evolved and came closer to home, we introduced fully flexible bookings on UK sites and remained open to those members who made the decision to stay.

We changed our operations to facilitate social distancing, closed facility blocks and communal areas, introduced mobile check-ins and increased distances between pitches and we asked members to visit sites closest to home.

Keeping you and your family safe and well is, and always will be, our first priority.

Given the continued escalation of the virus, the thoughts of our members and the messages from local tourist boards it is clear the time has now come to close all our sites with immediate effect.

Clearly, this decision will have a great impact on the hundreds of staff who have shown such remarkable dedication to the Club in extremely testing times. We will be supporting them in every way we can through the weeks and months ahead, until they can get back to doing what they do best - giving you the best possible experience at our sites up and down the country.

What happens now?

We've been dedicated to our members' needs for over 100 years and want to be here for generations to come. As a Club, we need you more than ever, to support us and each other.

Our website will be updated regularly with further information and we'll be in regular contact throughout our closure period. We'll bring you news, content and suggestions for how we can all share our passion for camping and lift our collective spirits.

Most of all, we are greatly looking forward to the day that we can invite you safely back to our sites and enjoy time with family and friends in the beauty of our countryside.

Until then, the NHS website is the best source of information about coronavirus and what you can do to prevent its spread. Please stay updated.

We have included booking advice at the end of this message, please continue reading if you have any upcoming bookings.

Thank you, stay safe and my best wishes to you all.
