The long awaited opening of camp sites takes place this Saturday. I know many caravaners and motorhomes are staying put but we are off.We cancelled a holiday down in Norfolk but are now going nearer home.
The caravan has not moved for nine months so it needs an airing and so do we.We are self sufficient so do not need washing/toilet facilities.We can keep our distance when out as we do at home.
Our neighbours are off too, one couple to their static, another to their holiday cottage.
Who else has decided to get away? I have a feeling the holiday routes will be very busy.

Nope, I'm leaving it a couple of weeks until it has settled in. I've got my site planned and caravan is nearly cleaned and ready. A week in North Norfolk so not too far to return home if we get locked down again. Looking forward to a week of swimming, cycling and walking and with luck a bit of sun.

We are wating a couple of weeks then to Ludlow for a week so we can make sure we have got everything we need in it. It was serviced just before lockdown but went back in store.
Later in August down south. Maybe France September if I can persuade wife!

As much as I'd love to get away, the hoards also going away at first opportunity fill me with horror. Not concerned about distancing and all that Covid stuff, just don't want to be surrounded by other people wherever I go.

I've got the option to pitch caravan in a friends field on my own down in Devon, but going to wait a bit 'cos I don't fancy everywhere I go visiting to be heaving with people like some oversubscribed Bank Holiday!

It will be like the first week od school holidays, we're off close to home in a couple of weeks to a small site and hope to keep out of everyones way with a litle r&r and walking.

The back end of September is the earliest we are considering, and only then if the infection rates go down rather than up, which I suspect they might do. We always avoid times when loads of others are going away, so the expected stampede this coming weekend would put us right off even if there were no coronavirus.

We tried to book a site about a month ago. All the usual places we go were booked solid all July so we have found a little CS site with no facilities on the outskirts of Cambridge. We usually do overnights on our way to the channel tunnel here and it's nice and quiet with a cycle path nearby. Decided to go on Sunday afternoon rather than Saturday to try and avoid the traffic. Going for 5 days and can't wait. We should have been in France for 6 weeks now.

We have missed 3 trips away this year already, so setting off soon to nearby St Andrews, we are self sufficient so will be ok even if it is busy. We enjoy lots of walking and the change of view will be appreciated.
