Hi , really struggling with getting a shine back on the caravan , tried autoglym resin polish and dry sparkle but it looks really smeary, can someone please help or advise what we are doing wrong
Sorry I can't help with resurrecting the shine on you van!!
However if you are anything like me....I wash every day.
If I look back 14 years, my face has changed. I think its just an ageing process. You cannot give an old lady a new face......Sorry, either plastic surgery or get New.
Have you tried this. I noticed a lot of the dealers use it and must admit it brought up the front of my last really well, had lost some of its shine due to UV.

Of course everything ages, but to me 2007 isn't what I would call old. Compared to mine it's quite a modern van. My 1992 Elddis still shines, I can see the sun reflecting off it out of my window right now. It's starting to look a bit grubby at the moment as I haven't washed it lately but I don't do anything special to it. All I do is give it a wash withe caravan cleaner every now and then, and it still looks fine. Ok so it will never look new again, but that's more to do with styling than lack of shine.
I use a polishing machine on mine using showroom pink polish. Brings it up lovely. Give it a good wash first followed by silky where needed then polishing.
Caravan has been cleaned, maybe I should be looking at a restorer or something first .
Bit worried about using polisher has some people said they can damage paintwork confused.com
Paint has oxidised. Only thing that will bring it back is T cut. This will take off oxidisation & leave shiny paint. Caravan paint is very thin though. The panels come ready painted. With T cut you risk rubbing paint so thin you start seeing the metal underneath. It can be done but great care is required doing a small section at a time.
Then give whole caravan a wax polish. Possibly file all this under life’s too short & just go caravanning ?
I'm not sue i'd use T-cut on a caravan. The surface coat is incredibly thin, and you could end up with an 'airstream' finish. I caught ours with the wrong end of the washbrush and marked it. I thought i had put a black plastic scrape off the brush on it. When i went to rub it off, its bloody alloy i can see. Not happy!
I have read about a product called Vistal which is ment to be good for bringing caravan back to life , anyone used this or got any views on this please
Vistal is slightly abrasive but less so than T cut. All that means is that it will cut back oxidised surface more slowly than T cut but the issue remains the same. That is can you cut the oxidisation back to shiny paint without seeing the metal underneath ?
If you want to get technical there are all sorts of grades of cutting paste used by vehicle & boat restorers. Farecla do all sorts of cutting compounds for the vehicle & boat trade. Website http://www.farecla.com
Have you tried Mer car polish? I used to use this on my car many years ago, very good at lifting haze on paintwork. I see it has now ben modified. Used to come in a blue bottle, but now in a black one.
