   My new to me caravan has only one calor gas bottle, would members recommend I purchase another one from a different supplier such as Flo gas, given the fact that Calor are not taking any new customers. Does anyone know if the same Regulator and connector is used by other companies. As we all know the gas always runs out when you least want it to, and at the moment it is difficult to source an instant replacement.

I may be wrong here!!
However I think Flo gas are different connectors.
My two penneth would be to source another calor bottle...i.e. flee bay, free adds or f/book market place...
Once you have the bottle, just exchange anywhere, no need to register with calor. just exchange empty for full on any site or place that has stock. I have never been asked for proof of contract when exchanging a bottle.
Stock seems to be limited just now, or so they say!! it will change tho.

You could just buy a secondhand bottle, loads for sale online locally to us, as most places will refill

There is another couple of options for you....

You are not limited to 6kg bottles.. depending on your strength and also the room in your van locker!
you could go for bigger bottles. 13 or 19KG. there seems to be no shortage of these..
After a quick google they are much more available.

i use a smaller bottle as my second bottle.. it saves weight and gives me time to change the main bottle for a full one when it goes empty..

what i really do wonder though is how long this gas shortage is going to last.. i fear it could get worse..

I don’t know which cylinder the OP has but my 6kg Flogas propane battle has the same connector as my 6kg Calor bottle.

FloGas must have half a dozen different connectors on different cylinders, including same gas/size but aimed at different markets (caravan/industry or leisure/BBQ etc.), all very confusing, AND the refill cost varies for the same gas/weight depending on the target market.

The like for like 6Kg steel (standard red) propane cylinders are indeed the same coupling ('POL' screw) for both Calor and FloGas, the 3.9kg propane is also the same POL screw coupling.

We have 2x6kg flogas bottles. Use one when away and put the 2nd one in the front locker when we are getting low.
By the way the flogas bottles are the same connection as the color gas bottles (steel bottles). The light weight flogas one's I'm told are different.

Thanks all, I knew I would get good info from this forum. Will try to source a 3.9 Calor bottle, but failing that it looks like a flogas bottle will do the job. Thanks again all.
