hi my friend has an Eldiss super sirocco 2014 she has had a problem for rain pouring in she has been up to look and put sealant round the top window but it's still leaking.Does anyone know if there has been any problems with this van please so I can let her know

There will be crack in the plastic surround. Purchased my Omega in 2015, at first service the damp levels were high around the Heki, the crack was found, it was replaced and also new roof boards under warranty. In 2021 the leak started again and the surround had cracked again letting in water, that was replaced again this January at service, under warranty.

Should have said, if the small plastic vents at the front are taken out, then you should see the light showing through the crack

Has your friend checked for any cracks on the front panel across the top of the roof? These are hairline cracks and sometimes almost invisible. Alternative is to contact an Approved Workshop Scheme technician to examine the caravan. When last was it serviced?

She gas been on roof and sealed around skylight with sikafkex,as she cant get anyone out yet they are all to busy

Problem is, with mine there was nothing wrong with the sealant around the base, the crack is on the raised side at the front. When water pooled on the roof it covered the base and leaked through the side, it had 60% damp in that area and needed some of the wood replacing. The dealer did seal the crack temporarily, but after a while it started to leak again until it was replaced, which took 6 months to get the new surround.

Just shown my friend your replys she is worried now as it's not been serviced it's a 2017 model not 3014 I got the year wrong .Its supposed to have 10 yr warranty against water ingress

Could be a problem to claim on warranty if the service has not been done within the timescale as stated by Elddis. Mine has always had it's service by the supplying dealer, within the timescale.

That water ingress is only around permanently sealed joints however warranty is no longer valid due to it not being serviced. Only recourse is CRA 2015 as there is no stipulation that the item has to be serviced regularly.

Thank you I will let her know my other friend has an elkkdis super cyclone and has had to have the whole unit replaced looks like it's a know fault on these Van's then .

Hi she has managed to solve her problem she cleaned all the joints and removed all the stuff she put on then bought some 4 inch butyl tape and put it on and since no water ingress just hope it stays that way thanks everyone

I dont think its this particular model of van. All vans have windows/skylights, and all are susceptible to leaking. To be fair though, Elddis, in particular, dont have a great reputation in their build quality.

No Col. I would say vans from the Flinstones era were pretty good in comparison. Then again, you wont actually have any glass in your windows, will you?

No, no glass in our caravan windows, unlike the ones we had years ago.

I do get the impression, especially after some of the things I have read on here, that the early vans were better built than many of the later ones. Some people on here with caravans less than 10 years old appear to have far more problems than we have had with ours.
