Well we are back home now after a fun and eventful weeks stay up in Northampton. Ended up staying an extra night due to son having made some great friends, so came back yesterday. Long and tiresome day but our Sporty is now back on her seasonal plot down in West Wales. Just need to put up her awning and she'll be ready for our usual weekend/weeks visits!
Now for our Adria Sportline DK 2013 service!
Where: Venture Caravans, Northampton
When: End of May 2014
Expected or rather we planned on having our Sporty down at the service center for 8.30am on the day of her service but due to the rain and having to re-pack everything AGAIN this didn't happen and so she rolled in at around 10am. The guys in the service center that were dealing with our van we found to be approachable and friendly which was great.......just as great as the guys from the Sales dept......so made us feel less anxious about our dealings with the service team from then on....phew!! We did advise them that if it was going to be too rushed to have both the service done and have our added extra - The larger Heki rooflight - put in all in one day, that we would be happy to return the next day with her. This wasn't to be necessary as they did manage to fit it all in!!
The warranty repairs included replacement of the bathroom mirror due to backing coming off on original one and the kitchen sink (It had some rust). They are going to be sending out a replacement door catch as they had none in stock at the time but we can easily do that ourselves.
The actual service went well, damp readings were between 11-14%, the latter being the large front window and bearing in mind that we had been living in it prior and up to its service due to being on holiday we thought the readings were pretty darn good...especially with all the rain we had-had too! We also paid an extra £20 to have the gas readings/safety checks done on the Heater, the Water Heater and the Fridge, all readings were fine! The service report that was given to us consisted of an A4 page checklist, an A4 page with a diagram of a caravan with the damp readings noted in all areas and the A4 page of the gas checks. If anyone wants info on anything specific please feel free to PM either myself or hubby Sportycara!
Mark in the sales dept made us feel very welcome and comfortable even passing the tv remote to our son to keep him occupied was really nice. Great guy!! Team that with offers of coffee, tea and hot chocolate - son was very happy with the choices available - made for a pleasant catch up and shop....yes every time we go to Venture we always end up buying something! Also made friends with Mollie the Venture dog - all she needs is a green scarf
The only negative thing we have to say about the experience was that their after cleaning care was non-existent. When we went to check Sporty's interior there was dust and debris everywhere in the van....and i mean everywhere, from the floor to the work tops to inside the cupboards! We mentioned this to one of the ladies and she came out with with a Henry hoover pointing out that he wasn't very good but she'd do her best. We had no hoover with us at all so was not impressed. I had personally spent the evening the night before cleaning her up so did not expect to get her back in that state. That same evening we had to spend more time in re-cleaning her as the dust had got in through the air vents in the cupboards and was sitting on all the worktops, so much so that it had us all coughing. Even the bathroom came as a shock as there was footprints on the floor and debris left in the sink.....mortifying wasn't the word and having to do it again after a long day out and in the rain was no mean feat!! No external clean either i'm afraid, so whoever it was that had that thrown in with their service done well!!! We have mentioned this to Mark in the sales team and he apologised but it unfortunately did leave us with an aftertaste! There is no way i could give back a van knowing fully well i had made the mess to leave it that way??? Mind boggles!!!
On the plus side the van has been serviced and all is well, team that with the new larger Heki rooflight and we're made! Love it, what a difference! Definitely recommend having it done!
Can't believe we've come full circle with our caravan from first purchase to here her first service, but we have and its turned out well. We're really chuft!! Would definitely recommend an Adria!
We are however on the look-out for caravan number 2, this time one with a fixed bed, so we'll no doubt be hitting the NEC come this October. Whether we will change or not is still up in the air as we are so very attached to our Sporty. We have been checking out many vans that offer the fixed bed and so far the Bailey barcelona ticks most boxes, the top one being that the front seating must be long enough to use as single beds for both a child and an adult. It also has huge worksurfaces as well as an ample fridge freezer and for us being on a seasonal site is a benefit. Out of the Adoras the Thames is our personal fav as it has more cupboard space down the side of the bed that actually matches those found in the Astella range and also has over the top cupboards down 2 sides - again as seasonal siteers this benefits, but unfortunately even with all the space that the Adoras own the seating at the front pales in comparison to many other makes....shame as was hoping it would be another Adria replacement, but we'll see what the new ones hold come October, if we can part with our Sporty, doesn't really bear thinking about!
Thank you to all who's helped us out and inspired us on our journey through our first year of caravan ownership and to those who have followed our experience. Hope this thread inspires newbie owners and us older ones alike to carry on sharing your ideas, thoughts, helps etc etc!!! Will try to upload some photos to our folder on our photobucket page for those of interest, when i get chance. Some photos have been added to our post on other forum site though as were easier to add than here.
