When we went to have a look at Elite, we were really impressed, especially for the money! We were almost tempted to buy the XK559 but the site lady then told us it does not have blown air heating and as we use our van through the winter we would miss that. Also there wasn't an oven only a grill and microwave (we are one of those that do use our oven). The plus was that there was a canopy fitted and an air conditioning unit.If you can live with the differences they are a very good buy. Gazmister (and many others, presumably) loves his. We aren't quite at the stage to buy a Geist yet but are hopefully going to visit Geist Vehicle Leisure at Gateshead in October. Having seen them (and loved the quality of them) at Elite we are hoping that our next 'van will be a Giest. Hope this helps, i'm sure other people will be able to give their views also soon.

Hi,

I've been reading through this thread with interest, especially as I found Elite caravans website and couldn't understand why they had 07 models as new and so cheap - now I know, so many thanks 17

I've mailed them to see if they have any left but, if they do, does anyone know what will NOT be included in the sale that is normally on a UK-spec van? This would be my first caravan, so not sure what to check for...

PS: gazmeister, I see you have the 560 which is just what we want - if you plan on selling up anytime soon, bagsy first dibs...17

Hands off our van you Nelmo 17

Seriously we love it, its a great layout, my only reservation was the toilet emptying cassette was on the awning side which thought may be a problem when we have the full awning up but wasn't and we can still access the door easily. The bunks are great as they are adult sized and recently at a meet we had 4 adults and our little one (in his bottom bunk) sleeping in the van and was perfectly adequate

We also added onto ours before we picked it up and external 240volt socket and and external gas bbq point (As I had them on our old van)

Elite do not give you much in the way of freebies, it didn't matter to us as we had all the stuff but if you are new you will need, or need to negotiate

EHU lead, Spare wheel (we got ours thrown in with the van as they told us it came with one and when we collected it they told us it didn't)

Make sure they give you the corner steady winding tool thing aswell as they hadn't put ours in the little holder so they had to go and find us one off another van.

You will obviously then have to aquire your other bits, awning, water and waste carriers, waste pipes (get that from elite as they are an unusual size)  plates, glasses, etc etc and most importantly a corkscrew

My main worry with ours was the small washroom, as our last caravan had a seperate shower cubicle, however we have been to no facility sites with it 4 times since collecting it, including 10 days at a washroom less site in devon and had no problem showering in the washroom,

Good luck and I hope you get what you want, we have had 5 caravans over the past 8 years and this one is by far and away the best, I was always a bit "yeah thats quite nice" til we had this one which I absolutely love.

Spare Wheel!

If they say it's included, get them to state that in writing somewhere becuase I was under the impression that it was included and in the end had to buy my own!

Thats what they tried with us,They had to give it us as Nedra asked when she went to look and the lady confirmed they did and when she rang to put the deposit down she checked again and was assured and I had to ring for the CRIS number I  was assured, Then when we collected there wasn't one, so I said I am not handing over my card until they put a spare wheel in as we had been assured. They soon found one!

Is that normal on the Aussie spec vans then?

I imagine they could do without heating but not in the UK 17

E-mails received!!! hope you have now got one with an owners club questionnaire?

Any other Geist owners who are interested in joining an owners club are welcome to e-mail geistowners at googlemail.com

There is a questionnaire for all Geist owners which has been produced by a group of Geist owners so we know what everybody with a Geist would like from a club.

OK IT'S FINISHED!!! The new Geist Owners Club website is online at www.geistownersclub.co.uk you need to create an account and log in and you can use the forum, post items for sale, add events and generally be an active user! It has taken ages ...as we've done it in our spare time but hopefully it will work ok. To add a pic to your profile go to user control panel in forum and upload avatar (photo) no larger than 250kb and 120x120 pixels. Hope that makes sense! See you there :0)
