Yes, definitely thanks for mentioning this about the bench legs. We haven't raised our seats yet but will now definitely remember to check both legs are down if/when we do.
Hi Ebikegum, you can check the manual, links to them so you can download can be found here
https://www.swiftgroup.co.uk/owners/handbooks
I will see if I can find anything about the legs ;*)
Can only see info on how to make double bed and it just says
Double bed assembly:
1. Grab front on slatted bed and pull into
centre of van. Repeat for other side.
2. Arrange seat cushions as appropriate.
Cannot see anything about stowing seats for securing bikes etc and how to place back for seating.
You've made me feel a bit better now. I felt such an idiot when it first happened. I would have felt even worse if there was an explicit reference to it in the manual . Still, if it stops anyone else doing it then it is worth mentioning.
Hi fellow Basecamper’s , been to check on Ossie today in storage .We are very impressed that the solar panel has been so efficient, the battery is fully charged . Everything is all in order 😁
Has anyone heard if you can purchase the sleeping pod for the 2017 awning ?
Looking forward to many trips in 2018
Hi hardyboys, we are lucky to have BC on driveway but still check in all the time 😁. From another forum I am under the impression that both swift and vango have said inner tent isn't sold separately! Is a bit of a shame. I would recommend looking at cheap pop up tents maybe? Our season this year starts middle of Feb, short trip. Can't wait though. We won't use vango awning on this trip, we have sewn piping to our taupe shelter and hope to make a small porch from this.
Yes that is a shame . We used a small tent in September but it took up most of the space but to be honest we don’t need more sleeping accommodation very often . I guess if Vango had enough pressure from 2017 BC owners they might sell them a pod .
We have an Ultra Light Canopy 200m which is very easy to put up & down & works very well.
Hi I'm new to this forum and we have almost bought a BaseCamp. We're planning to tow it with a Skoda Yeti 1600, diesel engine not 4WD. Have done a check on the club sites pages and it appears ok. as a match. Does anyone else use this combo.? If so how does it go?
We currently tow a TaB 320 and it's a doddle but somewhat lighter.
Many thanks.
We have taken the plunge and put a deposit on a new Basecamp. Being an awkward so & so I didn't want the Basecamp Plus. We don't need an oven, external BBQ point, TV bracket etc. It's all extra weight to tow and why pay for stuff you don't want?
We had a lot of bother trying to get a basic model though. No dealer we approached could help, even Swift were unable to say why they offered two sets of spec's, two prices, & listed the oven etc. as 'optional extras'. Having contacted the Advertising Standards Agency it transpired that you have to order the basic model specially. Cue Teeside Caravans and the nice salesman called Louis who went the extra mile, contacted Swift and ta-daa! they're building one for us. Now we have to sell our TaB 320 (a tear or two will be shed).
Hi Mata
If you search facebook for Swift Basecamp Owners
Hope you can find. It is a closed group but if you request to join I am sure you will be granted access.
It doesn't surprise me that things were not straight forward to purchase a basic model. I had heard that Swift were only selling the plus model but didn't understand why the basic one was still advertised. Good for you anyway and glad you are getting what you want. All basecamps are made to order anyway so it makes sense you should have want you want.
Any probs with the facebook page let me know. It will be good for you to join and share your experience with the Tab compared to the basecamp.
