There are model standards which councils use when making licensing conditions
for touring vans the distance between them is 6 metres
the standards are there for a reason - our safety - some parks ignore them but in general they usually comply with the conditions set out by the local council
too right - when collecting our ticket on arrival at the bottom of the ticket in big bold letters it said SORRY NO REFUNDS ! i wonder why !!!! the sad thing is that this website is having a meet there this weekend you poor things
Sorry got to jump in here. I have heard a few bad reports on this site, and do agree that £32 a night is a rip off for any site (call me a skinflint but I wouldn't pay that)
BUT.........We went to the meet at this site last year, it was our first UKCS meet, and it was great. We had no complaints at all, fair enough, you have to buy tokens for the showers, but whats 20p? (Obviously the fees on a meet are considerably less that £32 a night) We were on the rally field with other UKCS peeps and we had the best time. So much so that we booked on this years meet as soon as we found out about it. I am really looking forward to going back on Friday.
yes we went last year aswell, we had a great time hence why we are returning, the only thing i can say against it was the "welcome" that we received last year from a battle axe, and then later on when asked where the dog walk was, informed that we where camping in it!!! how nice that was of them!!!!
ok last year things got a bit tight for space with the ukcs lot, as the hook ups wherent placed very well, but this year as we have some extra leads then it shouldnt be a problem, my only concern is the state of the field that we go on as its at the bottom of the site and with a large field slopping towards where we are stopping i hope it aint water logged.
Yes we also came into contact with the "battle axe" on reception and first impressions do stick ! and the field i am sure will be fairly boggy as all the grass is in the toilet block and was there the entire time of our visit ! !
There are other sites in this area. Most more economical. Up the hil to Finghall there ae 2 and neither of them is far from the pub. Down the dale is a lovely site at Crakehall - adults only..
The weather we experienced this weekend will have made the ground up there very boggy - take your wellies.
We stayed at the unity at brean sands http://www.hru.co.uk/ over the weekend, the tent next our caravan was only 3 foot away we could hear them all the time, they wasnt really shouting or any thing like that but they were just to close, this site just packs them in, i dont think we will stay again. glad it rained as i heard them say lets go home early, other wise we would have had them for another day. i did do a write up but i canceled it due to i think it sounded like i really hated kids/ people and wanted to kill every one. LOL..... never again on a commercial site, unless it sticks to some fair rules.
Maybe people should tell local councils when they have been to a site and 6m rule has been broken. I am sure a letter from the local authority or a visit would make these sites abide by their site licence.

Do you suffer from an OCD. Obsessive Caravan Disorder.
The problem is on Bank Hol weekends we're all crying out for a pitch and some unscrupulous sites are a bit greedy and cram campers in to take advantage of it.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
I have to say a few of you caravaners attitudes regarding campers i.e. people who stay in tents stinks, don't forget they are there for the same reason as you to have a break, it's not their fault if they are told to pitch too close to your caravan, but obviously from some of the comments about campers some caravaners think they are a better breed of people.
I am a camper now,(again) but have been a caravaner.
Re the attitude of cavanners to canvas campers:- Most of us started under canvas and have experience of it's joys. Most of us will have said to our families - it's canvas not brick and voices carry - note I say MOST. There are as always the exceptions which prove the rule, unfortunately these exceptions almost without fail have loud voices. We tin tenters are equally guilty of the 'noise carries' thing but within the caravan we are less likely to be heard. As for the 'invasion of space/pitch', you will no doubt have noted on this site people asking for sites which permit large tents/have big pitches just to avoid setting up on top of or too near others - yet again it is the minority of tenters and campsite owners who spoil it for others. Very quickly, people vote with their feet. This is probably the reason the Ache***(sp) campsite feels it necessary to not have reviews published. This site still needs to make it's money so the prices go up and the service goes down.
