This guy must actually enjoy staying in hotels................sleeping where others have slept and sharing the skin cells that were probably left a night before (not to mention other things) enough said just shows what a one sided mind can do hey................but who cares as others have said who wants him in a pitch beside them anyway, not that we would want to convert him hey.
------------- 'A motorhome is for life, not just for Summer'
What a silly article to write. Who the heck does he think he is to scoff at other people's preferences?
I suppose he heads for crowded airports and gets herded onto a full to the brim aircraft heading off to sunnier climes and then spends his week looking at the same 4 walls in the confines of his hotel room. Perhaps he enjoys the bun fight buffet style breakfasts which he has to share with hundreds of other holiday makers and then fights for a sunbed by the pool or on the beach! I wonder what his idea of a perfect weekend or holiday is and I wonder if he has enjoyed the same freedom that caravanning or motorhoming can bestow upon you? I very much doubt it and we should pity this guy's ignorance!

Why do caravanners get so wound up every time someone has the audacity to criticise their hobby. I didn't find the article particularly amusing, and certainly not in the same league as the Clarkson Sketch which was absolutely hilarious.
BUT the extreme reactions such articles/programs seem to produce only serve to reinforce the impression of caravanners as miserable old gits who spend all their time sitting in a field in their tin tent drinking tea and emptying their bodily waste products from a plastic box...
If anyone seriously believes that it's their loss.. personally I have no problem with people who laugh at me and mock my hobbies.. I do the same to others in respect of those leisure pursuits I don't like or am not particularly interested in.
This guy spouts off in the Doncaster Free Press every week. Not sure quite how he managed to land his column but guess what? YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO TAKE HIM SERIOUSLY!!!
He is a wind up merchant and you've fallen into his trap of giving him publicity and discussing the tripe he writes!!
Quite a few Doncaster caravanners on this forum - Yorkshire Caravans is 1m from our house and I can tell you it's constantly full so don't start suggesting that Doncaster people don't like caravans - not true!!
------------- Wouldn't it be great if schools and hospitals had all the money they needed and the Army had to hold jumble sales to buy guns!

Pompous Little Man !!!!!!!.
Never liked the Doncaster area anyway.
Ian.
I'm not really keen on the West Midlands either.... (and yes I've lived there too... Walsall, Brownhills, Rushall, Telford, Coventry, Wolverhampton....all best viewed through the rear view mirror on the way out.....)

Just read your post Finlaysmum and must say that you have certainly set me thinking and yes I think you are probably right and we have all overeacted to this guys article and taken it way too seriously, myself included. Nope, what you say makes great sense really and I am giving myself a mighty old slap for falling into his trap and allowing what he wrote to wind me up!
