Motor mover gets the vote here too!  Just had one fitted to our new caravan, the Powrtouch 4 wheel drive one (I think thats what its called?).  Couldnt caravan without it.  Another close contender is the Caravanstore awning/canopy - light, easy to put up etc.

A Remote Control for Better Half, where I press a button and she sets up caravan while I am having a beer on a deckchair.

Hmmm, I think I must have dreamt that haha.

Best gadget for me after being out all day is a Freeview harddrive recorder twin tuner and outside House aerial for maximum chance of picking up Freeview.

I agree the motor mover was the best and most useful thing and second to it is those folding toasters that go on top of the gas ring - brilliant toast every time.

How i would so love a mover! it would save endless arguments getting the van back in the drive (tight to say the least)

Best gadget? hmmmm not sure yet, but the long reach lighter is good. I dont tend to carry too many gadgets (yet)

Spoilt for choice but here are the top three in order.

1 Motor mover - OH was not convinced we needed one (he is so manly haha) but now would not be without it, in fact we could not get the van into the back garden without it.

2. Slow Cooker - just love it. Put everything in and leave whilst I shop, we walk, we go to the pub!! Have a small one just for the van the house one is a bit too big.

3. Remoska - Yes I have an oven in the van but that uses my gas and would need more cleaning. Bought it for home but now goes away as well. May even consider getting the smaller one just for the van.

Spoilt for cho

Has to be our fabric collapsable dog kennel! (Only good if you have a dog) Its called a Lazy Bones but its great, its like the dogs have their own little awning all to themselves, and if we want to go out for an hour or so without them we zip em up and their quiet as mice!

Other great gadget has to be my cadac

Motor mover bought as a retirement present to each other. Next is a small electric oven from Lydell for under £20. It's invaluable as is our slow cooker. When we haven't an E.H.U. though then our solar panel beats the lot.

My most used 'indulgent' gadget would be my Sony CD/DVD/radio I bought last year to replace the standard fitted cd/radio.

I plumbed the yellow video cable from the back of the player down and round to where we have our 10.4" lcd tv and the cable pops in the back of the tv so we can watch dvd's without having to carry/accommodate a seperate dvd player.

The advantage is that the sound is fed straight to the fitted speakers. Much better than the tv speakers.

There is a second cable which goes from the dvd/cd/radio and plugs into the speaker jack on the telly meaning that when you watch telly the sound goes through the cd/dvd player and also comes out the fitted stereo speakers.

No more tinny sounds from the LCD tv. Let's face it, what they make up in weight.size they lose on sound!

Not quite a gadget, but refillable gas, i.e. the sort you fill up at a petrol station for 50p a litre. You need never run out of gas as you can just keep topping the gas up, and no more lifting and manoevering heavy bottles. Works out cheaper too. Mind you we bought it already fitted with the van, not sure it works out cheaper if you have to pay to have it fitted. Haven't met anyone else who has the same system, so perhaps installation costs put some people off.

Next gadget that we hope to find really useful when we get it (it's just been ordered) is an under caravan spare wheel carrier. Removing the spare wheel from the front locker was the only way we could get the noseweight down, and it was a pain having to keep moving it in and out of the van. Saw them on the Alko stand at the NEC and they seem really easy to use.

I know a couple of motorhomers that have them, one was self build though.

I have looked, but dont think it would be very easy getting the van into my local filling stations!

LPG - liquid petroleum gas.....it's the same as cars that run on gas. We also have a car that is bi-fuel and runs on gas except on start up, when it uses petrol. I believe it is propane and so can be used in your caravan. Take a look at Gaslow as they provide the equipment. Not all petrol stations supply gas, but we have 3 on regular routes nearby so it works out good for us, but I know people in certain parts of the country may struggle.

We have a 25 foot Burstner and haven't had problems getting it onto the forecourt of any petrol station. Good job too as I'd hate to have to unhitch just to fill the car up with petrol!!

For anyone who doesn't know, the cost of gas compared to petrol is roughly half, so you can imagine how good that makes us feel when we fill up the car with gas!
