Just remeber that the cupboard will get a lot warmer than the rest of the caravan this tripping the stat a lot earlier than necessary.  We eventually fitted the remote sensor near the door about 2 foot above the floor.  Works a lot better but not ideal.

If we were able to do a poll on this forum asking 3 questions, I think I know which one would come tops.

1)  Are you happy with the way your Truma heater works on electric?

2)  Does your Truma regulate correctly, i.e. switching on and off to retain the desired temperature

3)  When you next purchase a caravan will the brand of heating have an influence on your decision to purchase?

1) Yes - it works a treat.  We only ever use gas if on low amperage CLs or to warm up quickly.

2)  Perfectly, since I fitted a remote thermistor from Arc Systems in the position that Gary recommended.  Must admit it got too cold before switching back on prior to fitting (Thermostat on wardrobe wall above heater).

3)Unlikely as our next 'van will almost certainly be single axle.  The Alde wet system is usually only fitted ti twin axle 'vans.

If I recall correctly the caravan manufacturers fitted the Truma heating as recommended by Truma hence the problems.  Truma did acknowledge that their advice had been incorrect and subsequently suggested the remote fitting which most of us have now.  Unforunately in our case in additio0n to the heat regulation problem we had other issues cummalating in the whole unit being replaced as the gas unit also went faulty.

My suggestion is thta if you hav a new caravan use the gas heater as often as possible even thoughy it costs more.  At least if you are going to have a problem, it should show up within the first two years of almost regular use.  Our issue only came to light because of a power failure.

This problem as said is going to be the location of the stat and should sort itself out once a remote is fitted in the correct position, have a look here

As for the three questions, your stuck with Truma good or bad, truth is though it should work ok. On electric and if on 16A hookup you should be able to leave it on 2000W with fan on auto set to a maximum of  No 3 and it will look after itself. If you don't want the fan or on 10A or 6A hookup then leave it on 1000W or 500W respectively. 

I would not advise using it on 2000W without the fan

I am away....6000 miles away south east of the UK  but when your just a one man band, one has to keep things ticking over. Mind you an hour here or there on the laptops not so bad when the sun gets to hot, gives me chance to retreat to the room and get the air-con working full blast

Been nice today, got up at 6.30am to watch the sun rise, bit late but just a red ball behind the mist and very low in the sky, sat on the balcony for an hour in the cool of the dawn enjoying the birds and other wild life going about their business.

By this time the sun had burnt through the mist and was starting to do the same to me, so in for a shower and then breakfast before having a lazy day by the pool. Actually been fairly cool today, only about 30-32C and the humidities really low so very nice.
