I try to avoid site/launderette machines if I can. It's not so much due to the cost - more down to disappointment with the results.

Most of these machines only take about 20 minutes for a wash cycle and yet mine at home takes almost 2 hours to do the same job!  I've had nice new clothes reduced to grey dishevelled rags courtesy of some coin-op washers, or they've come out nearly as soiled as when they went in!  There's nothing worse than buying the family some new holiday clothes and then having them ruined after one or two wearings.  Personlly, I don't entrust anything more than towels to the coin-op machines any more.

I prefer to do some hand washing if necessary and if the site has a spin-dryer (usually quite cheap) then so much the better, as I can then line-dry them as required.  I can't see one of those portable twin-tubs being much better, or less labour intensive than by hand would be, to be honest.

We got the twin tub jobbie, and it is great. We often use the spin (which is very fast for the wattage) to dry out towels and swimming stuff. It gets them hand dry.

For some long stays away, its great to have the option of washing clothes. They are only good for smalls and light things, jeans and stuff are too heavy. A good buy though and just gets under the bed for storage!

They take a LOT more than a few pairs of socks, but it's nice to have a comment from someone who has actually got one

I don't think I've ever stayed anywhere within 10 miles of a launderette. I think there's one in Rotherham, but I don't really want to pitch there. Never use large sites with washing machines. I offer to wear my underpants for 4 days to save on washing, but 'er indoors won't let me

I agree, you can get a decent amount in them, just nothing too heavy when soaked. We got ours when we came back from the lakes - the site we was on had two washing machines and you had to go up at 11pm to have a chance of getting one. The wife and girl got the sickness bug and there was a lot of washing and it cost us a bomb. With our machine and the sun or even the dryers we would have saved a lot.

i have one of the twin tubs and love it as long as i have the awning up, loathe it when  its down as its something else to find room for.

i have a disabled son who is incontinent and it is fantastic to be able to wash his sheets and jammies  on the day without having to take them to a laundry/toilet and wash them and hand wring now i can get them nearly dry with the spinner.

I have the smaller one and find it very handy, was thinking of getting the twin tub one this year for the spin as the smaller one only washes and rinses. I find it handy for when we are away for more than a weekend as me son has multi sensory problems and tends to wear the one set of cloths which need to be washed daily.
