a caravan fridge will not be powered up on 12v unless the towing vehicle's engine is running , the minute you switch your engine of the fridge go's off it is not the leisure battery that powers the fridge contrary to what some of the previous post's say it is powered direct from the cars 12 v system

I have visited the Netherlands a few times before, but this is the first time that I've visited with my wife & daughter, also first time with the caravan. As i know that the country is very child/family friendly I am sure that we will have an excellent time.

They get colder quicker on gas than mains. Much more efficient.
Totally agree Caz, ours is 12v or gas only and it runs great, Sometimes a little too well and needs to be turneddown in colder weather, in hottest weather we have been in it was 30c outside and the fridge maintained its 5c inside. Perfect!
We just freeze a couple of cartons of Orange juice put one in the freezer compartment and one in the fridge and have had no problems even with overnight crossings, of course it helps to put the fridge on mains the day before to get it cold before hand.
we went to rotterdam on the pride of zeebrugge in 2002 i, and the hubby had a lead given to him by greasey bloke on the ferry when we got out our car , he was asked to wind the back van legs down as they were straping the back end of the van down as it might be rough . (and god it was )it went from a red socket on the side of the parking area to a blue socket that went ito our van , aparanty the fridge lorrys that are on lower deck use it when they come to the uk so they dont run there engines ,
hubby was a bit annoyer as the greasey ferry bloke put habd prints on the white on our van
