We have a tight spin into storage, have a powrtouch, its so easy now, we can get it in and out without needing to both be there.

Don't forget to take into account your battery, we are lucky to have a 110amp leisure battery, so no problem on drain.

I came to this site after we decided to treat ourselves to a mover for our caravan. After reading all the helpful advice and comments on this site, we have eventually decided to get a PowrTouch mover.
The Reich had been recommended to us, but we were unaware of the problem of it being set lower. Which we are very grateful to have found out.
Now, as I am just in the process of shopping around for prices, another thought has come to me. We pull our Abbey Vogue with a Ford Mondeo. As it has low profile tyres, are we likely to encounter the same problems with any mover being too low to get on ferries?
Any help or commennts would be very grateful.
thanks

8gill8 if you go for the PowrTouch they will price match on a like for like model so you will get it considerably cheaper than their own prices.

Sorry to be a bit thick here - but do you mean they match the price of other makes, Truma, Endura etc or just their own make if bought somewhere else?
I would have thought directly from the manufacterer wpuld be cheaper. Am I being naieve?

I probably didn't explain it very well!! LOL

They price match to other makes. Means you can get a PowrTouch for quite a bit cheaper than they advertise themselves.

It's on their website.

I have had Reich twin axle movers since July 2005 and I have never had a problem being too low as you put it.  I have used all the Irish Sea and Cross Channel ferries and never had a problem the same goes for speed bumps it clears them all.

8gill8 have you fitted a mover to your Abbey Vogue?  We are in the process of looking for a mover as I have injured my shoulder yet again pushing the van and we too have an abbey GTS Vogue but are concerned about it being low after watching a van getting stuck on a campsite in France a few years ago!  Any advice would be helpful.

I love my motor mover.  We store our 'van behind our house with a very bumpy track and pushing our old one into place wasn't easy.  Now we unhitch and motor it into the exact spot we want it to go in.  It really is worth every penny spent on it.  The dealer told us that it can easily be moved onto another 'van when we change 'vans :)

Sorry i wouldn't have a clue what one it is lol

We have Powrtouch and have been pleased with it. We had it moved onto our new (to us) van earlier this year with no problems. Our van is stored on land behind our house, accessed by a narrow rutted back lane on a slight hill, with about six inches clearance on each side! Reversing up the lane, and then the clearance to turn into the gateway was a nightmare (first two trips out we had to rouse all the neighbours to help us in!!)  The mover has sorted this totally, OH moves van out of  the gateway,  into the lane, down the lane and into the roadway in front of the house where he hitches up. Same thing in reverse getting back in. The mover has the power to cope with this and more. I would say, make sure you have a decent caravan battery.

bobsbabes

Sorry to ask but what was the "fab price" that you have got for the heavy-duty powrtouch mover?  Did you get this price by price-matching.

I am seriously thinking of getting one for our 'van - getting a bit old for pushing and just started keeping 'van on our awkward access drive.

Thanks

Tim

I have a swift charisma 555 which is about the same size and weight as the challenger you mentioned. I have a reich mover which makes moving, even in a tight space, very very easy. The hight it is set at has never been a problem. Reich are very helpfull if you do have any problems

Hi all,
Just an update. We have had our Powrtouch mover fitted now for 4months and its been fantastic!
We have never ever pushed or pulled our caravan anywhere, as mentioned by many people. My husband alway preferred to manover the van whislst still attached to the car. The air has been blue on many occasions and tempers very frayed! but he was very sceptical about spending all that money when we have always managed.
He now thinks it is great. Praise indeed.
He may not have NEEDED one, but certainly is a luxury to have one.
