Clearly a common issue and one well known to Elddis. Just about to send a Sale of Goods Act letter to my supplier re same issue on a 2014 Xplore 304. Tray cracked round drain after 16 months and approx 60 nights of use.

Elddis have agreed to repair shower tray ,but be carful they replaced tray refitting plug hole so you didn't stand on it when entering the shower/toilet.now all the water from the shower collects in the the corner where the plug originally was thus I have to physically push the water out of the shower now, back to fighting with Elddis to get a shower fit for purpose .lesley

I too have a cracked shower tray on 20 month old Marquis Majestic 125. The crack is around the unused alternative waste recess, which appears to have no support on the underside. Marquis, Poole have informed me it is not covered by the 12 month Warranty, quoted £695.83 to repair, but suggested I search on the Internet as other companies offer solutions, which indicates a recurring problem. Sounds like they are not prepared to challenge the manufacturer and do not wish to make the repair. Now deciding which route to go as the shower is no longer fit for purpose! I am happy to discuss the issue with any who have experience the same problem.

Our tray cracked round the plug hole at 18 months old, usual problem, no support under it and only 2mm thick plastic. fixed it myself with an acrylic disc and sikaflex. There was no point in fitting another sub standard tray, it will only crack again. Plus god knows what kind of mess the 'tradesman' would have made of it.

Hi. I know your problem was in 2008 but I've just bought a second hand 2013 xplore 304 and my shower tray has cracked round plug hole in exact same way you describe! I don't have an able hubby so am interested to know if you took the matter further with eldiss.
I'm devastated as happened in our first week away! Any help would be gratefully received!
Thanks
Barnji

Yes they did repair the fault, they fitted a new shower tray, problem was they fitted the drain to the top right of the shower / toilet compartment, the water doesn't drain away properly any more .when I questioned this and said I wasn't happy they sent a independant advisor he decided the shower was fine ,very disappointed at his decision ,not sure how he would feel about having to physicals get on his hands and knees to push the water down the drain after every shower. Also if you have finance on your caravan it's the finance company you will need to contact first about getting shower repaired.trading standards can be a great help .lesley

Hi.
Your repair sounds much like what I'll have to do. Where did you get the acrylic disc from please? My friend suggested much the same although he mentioned expanding foam.
Many thanks

If you bought from a dealer in the last 6 months get the dealership to do the repair FOC.

Hi l have just read of your problems with the shower tray on your Majestic 125, our 125 which we also purchased from Marquis of Poole has today been into them with the same problem. They took some photos saying that it should be covered, but have have phoned back this afternoon to surprise surprise say it was not covered and it would cost £755.00 to replace it.
I was wondering if you have had any luck with the repair on you motorhome.

Not your problem if it is not covered as it is the responsibility of the dealership to rectify the problem depending on how long ago the unit was purchased.

Got the acrylic disc from eBay. Elddis specifically exclude the shower tray from the warranty, I think they might give 12 months on it. Shows they know it's not going to last long.

A warranty is actually a meaningless piece of paper and carries no weight in a court of law as legislation like SOGA and CRA 2015 over ride any warranty. A warranty is in addition to your rights. It is the responsibility of the dealer to do the repair.
Just maybe if more dealers were forced to do and pay repairs not under "warranty", they would put pressure on the manufacturer to produce a better product! Pigs may fly as long as a dealer gets away with fobbing off the consumer.

Hi, unfortunately our motorhome was 3 .weeks past the year since we purchased it, i have since posting borrowed a welding gun from work and repaired it with some ABS rod, also injected expanding foam in the void under the tray. Cheers

It would have been covered under CRA 2015 regarding durability etc. The bonus is that the Internet is full of complaints about cracked trays which would have demonstrated an inherent fault. As you have done the repair yourself this may create problems if you have a damp issue in that area as it may not be covered. CRA 2015 states as follows;

1 Wherever goods are bought they must "conform to contract". This means they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality (i.e. not inherently faulty at the time of sale).

2 Goods are of satisfactory quality if they reach the standard that a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory, taking into account the price and any description.   Aspects of quality include fitness for purpose, freedom from minor defects, appearance and finish, durability and safety.

3 It is the seller, not the manufacturer, who is responsible if goods do not conform to contract.

4 If goods do not conform to contract at the time of sale, purchasers can request their money back "within a reasonable time". (This is not defined and will depend on circumstances)

5 For up to six years after purchase (five years from discovery in Scotland) purchasers can demand damages (which a court would equate to the cost of a repair or replacement).
