When towing, you also need to ensure that you have informed your car insurance, although it should not increase your premium.

While the van is being towed it is your car insurance that covers any third party damage caused by the van, they do not cover any damage to the van itself, that is still covered by the caravan insurance.

Our insurance is with Caravan Guard and it is brilliant. We only pay £22.00 a month for a Caravan that cost us £10,500. We also have awning cover for storm damage too. Couldn't fault Caravan Guard and have only heard good things about this insurance company. We were with E&L but don't rate them highly to be honest as their customer service is rubbish. I tried to ring them 3 times when I changed my van and all times I was directed to the email site, sooo I emailed them 3 times and up to yet they have not bothered to answer me so I changed Insurances to Caravan Guard and haven't looked back.
