I really appreceate your help here. I hope something comes of conversations. Yes your right I am in the Truck business and had loads of dealing with very hard working and honest travelling people over the years buying selling Trucks Trailers and doing Shotblasting and Painting on Their Vehicles and Showground Attractions.

This ranges from the Romay Travalers to the Local show people. Sinc my Dad died who was a Landscape Gardner even given work to some of the Irish Travelers doing tree trimming hedge cutting etc. But whoever took our Caravan have no concious and are opportunists who do give their race a very bad press.

My Fathers philosophy was Live and Let Live as is mine Everyone has the right to make a living but not by theiving property amd memories from Families and especially young children

Hi all Been out since 6 am this morning and visited a camp in Erskine Renfrewshire.

Locals and Petrol Station Attendants, Taxi Drivers Farm Workers and Folk Walking Dogs in area Say that a convoy left the Area on Wednesday Evening and some apparantly moved up the road to the B790 Inchinnan to Houston Road off the A726 wich rus up to where I live in Newton Mearns.

I am told not all of them stayed in area so must have headed onto M8 Motorway. WHICH IS ONLY A MILEOR SO AWAY

Anyone see any movements of Travelers with Transit Vans with Tree Logos Driveways STEAM CLEANED and another van with  RE Plastering,Coving Taping and CORNICES. THE WHITE TRANSIT VAN THAT TOOK OURS DROPPED SOME BROKEN PLASTER IN OUR DRIVEWAY. REG NO M391 DVS

WEDNESDAY 13TH AUGUST EVENING AROUND 5PM PROBABLY HEADING SOUTH OR SOMEWHERE MORE LOCAL IF THEY HAS WORK TO FINNISH AND HAVE PARKED UP SOMEWHERE ELSE.

THERE WERE PROBABLY ABOUR 4 - 6 CARAVANS

This is terrible, why aren't you insured? is it because it was on your drive and not in storage?

You have to be careful with travellers, no way I would go around to one of their camps, you don't no what could happen. The police should do more specially if you have the reg number and all that!

We have just this afternoon 14th August around lunchtime had our three year old Hobby single Axle Caravan stolen from our driveway. The model is very scarce in the UK it is a UK 560 Excellent Easy fitted with Blue upholstry. The Caravan has a German Dealer sticker on the front and rear Roof P. J. Joeressen GmbH and The Caravan Club and The Camping and Caravanning Club Stickers on the Rear window. The Water Filler Cap was missing too. The Caravan was White with Blue Stripes fully kitted out with a Bradcot Portico XL and everything else TVs Videos Sleeping Bags Kids Games Toys you name it as we had just came back from our holidays late Sunday Night Only took out the dirty clothes as had to go straight to work

The Police seem to be doing something now due to many phone calls and complaints. Its all about shortages in staff they say.

Our neighbours saw the fellows take it there we a few of them touting round the doors asking for work e.g. clean the driveway etc

We gave the Police the neighbours description of the the guys the most recognisable was Irish Accent Young Early to mid 20's dark air 5' 6" driving a cream coloured or white "Renault" or Citroen type van with stickers on side "Coving" Taping" Artex and RePlaster Work on the side. Reg Number either or close to M391 DYS or MC91 DYS Another Van NEW Transit type but no REG white.

Wife Weans and Dog all distraught We loved Caravaning and no dough to buy new as beleived it was insured and says so on old policy brochure  but new brochure says not. Swiz by Insurance Companies

Just two days into our loss and the encouraging responses, wishes, hopes, and prayers we have had over this theft. It is mind boggling and so very touching I cannot explain how much you all are helping Michele and the Kids and can’t  thank everyone enough.

Had a promising response from RockabillyGeorge123. He recons he spotted a Hobby with a number plate on it like ours and states below

Hope i can help as we was leaving kings lynn today i saw your there is a group of irish tinkers staying on a fild just near the town i remember seeing it because the number plate says george and its my name thats how i remember it hope this helps you if you would like anymore info email me good luck

Yes it was near LA Sport North Lynn near the industrial estate sorry i don’t know the name of the road but they are staying in a field near the kids park good luck.

Got address and will phone them tomorrow to ask if any of their staff have seen anything. Will will try anything and If I have to go down on a tip I will.

Pity George didn’t have a camera or a mobile to take a picky and sent me it. But I understand if he was on the move himself and am grateful for any assistance or information.

Been in touch will local Traveling People Liaison Officer of the Kings Lynn Council who was very helpful and informative. He unfortunately is going on holiday but passing info onto a colleague.

He says there is a Big Irish Travelers Festival in Great Yarmouth this weekend.

I am tempted to go down and speculate. But my wife says it will be like looking for a needle in a haystack but still may take the risk.

Police have been in touch and things we are told are in motion re cameras number plate recognition etc. Please all keep your fingers crossed for us.

It’s now 2.30 am Thursday and I have been out now three days and nights running to early hours.

Spoke to one group of Travelers, Romanies, who seemed concerned and said the local Irish Tinkers had just left the area on Tuesday and yesterday Wednesday.

He said you always get one or two bad eggs among them especially the younger ones who don’t have their own Caravans etc. He also said he was ware it happened from time to time and he has commented and told to mind his own business in not so many words by them.

Spoke to local Garages where they fuel up and the workers thought they saw vans and Caravans of our descriptions lately. May also if they get time scan their CCTV’s around the times they commonly fueled up or bought gas, sweets and giggys. Morning 7 am – 10 am afternoons 3 pm to 7 pm. Some of the vehicle they drive you wonder where they get the money 4x4’s Brand new 08 plate vans etc etc.

Local Taxi Boys were very helpful too, pointing out and even driving and showing me sites where they were. I combed the sites for any sign in the rubbish they leave scattered about. (you would not believe what they leave in bags scattered everywhere) its disgusting!

We keep praying with faith.

If you said you paid insurance but are not insured, what are you insured for? What are the insurance company saying you are covered for?

That's what I can't fathom J Waite.  I can only assume the OP did not adhere to the policy ie correct anti theft devices, alarm, tracker etc?

No, the OP would not have got a quote and schedule etc as he would have been informed at quote stage that they didn't insure Hobby van.
