I love all the extreme views and scare mongering from experts.
We put out bikes on a roof top carrier on the car.

i have fold up bikes that go in the car , but this fear of caravan bike racks seems to be a UK thing while in Australia its nothing to see bike racks on the rear of the caravan , also see the spare wheel there as well also see another spare wheel in the A frame + 2 gas cylinders on the A frame , but there vans are a lot more robust than ours , with proper leaf spring suspension and a nose weight up to 190 KGs

All well & good but when your nose-weight limit is 75kg, I'd rather not lose 35kg to a pair of bikes leaving just 40kg for the caravan.

I suspect that for many people getting their nose weight down to just 40kg would be almost impossible without putting loads of gear at the very back of the van

Forget putting them on the back of your van, focus on an A frame design at the front of your van that way your clamping onto the chassis not bolting though the rear walls of your van.
